Weird hen behavior

Calcium supplements really aren't necessary until hens are actually laying.

Yeah, no oyster shell here yet. Boy, were they interested in the nest this morning! I went out to scoop poo off the poop board and turn over their shavings. Our BO wouldn't get out of the coop! I put my hand in the nest box and said, "What belongs in here?", and she went over to it, stuck her head in, and made that pre-egg screech. They didn't want to free-range today. After I got the coop/run cleaned up and new water in, they all marched back in and up to the coop. There are some serious egg production meetings going on in there!

OMG! Our Buff Orp did it! She gave us an egg!!! She was squatting in the run when I went down to check on the girls and *boop* there was the egg. Hopefully she's going to figure out to go in the nest for the next one. Here is her adorable, little egg:

Iv put old Easter eggs full of dirt ( to give them weight) or IV read that golf balls work...theyp don't seem to mind the color...I got another small roundish egg today ...the first one had a double yoke...guess that's why it was so big....congratulations I'm so happy she laid...wish my bos would start but all in good time.
