Weird laying behavior?

[Dogwood Farm Kennels]

Our hens (7 Golden Comets & 3 Buff Orpingtons) are doing the following:

- We have 6 nesting boxes yet all the eggs are always found in the same one box.

- The other 5 boxes have poop because they perch on the edges of the nesting boxes (they don't have roofs)

- Our hens lay in the late afternoon. There's never any eggs in the morning.

Welcome to the world of chickens. We have 18 hens that are of laying age in a large run. In the hen house is 16 nest boxes. Every day all the eggs are in 2 boxes. Your girls are normal!!!

yep, completely normal- I get most of my eggs in the afternoon as well and they always lay in the same spot as each other

There are a lot of posts abou thens all layign in the same box. A few talk about them even waiting in line to use the box- even when there are plenty empty ones to use.
