Weird noise!!!

I just bought two chickens at a sale and the one hen is making a weird almost sneezing noise. Not a lot and she's acting normal otherwise. The roo acts fine too. She doesn't have any other symptoms other than her eyes look weird. Not funny or cloudy just weird. She's ate and drank okay. Could this just be stress?

"Weird" is a subjective term which could mean just about anything. A photo would be a big help. We could see for ourselves what has you concerned and no words would be necessary. A video with sound would be even better.

If you can't post a photo or video, then try to describe in detail what you are seeing with her eyes. Bulging? Red-rimmed? Eye lids not functioning properly?

It could be stress. Your new hen could also be dehydrated. Electrolytes could help with both issues.

Okay finally got a pic of her eye. The sound is almost a hiccup or a sneeze sound and it's so random I can't really record.

Eye is clear and bright - perhaps a peck to the anterior corner. Can you provide a profile shot of 'her'?

@Eggcessive What do you think about the eye?

I agree the eye looks odd. Could be since he is sneezing that he may have a respiratory illness. Keep them both quarantined so you can monitor them. Practice Bio-Security between your existing flock and these 2. Check them both for any lice/mites.

Hopefully Kim will chime in with her thoughts. You can flush the eye with a little saline to help clear it and apply an ophthalmic ointment like Terramycin or Vetericyn eye gel to the eye. Watch for any mucous from the nostrils and listen for any other symptoms of respiratory illness.

Are you serious? 2 roos?! Should I go back to the sale and say something to the guy. I hate being confrontational but I paid for a pair. And do not want a sick bird!
