Weird or Old Home Remedies

Haha, I finally dragged myself away from the computer to go feed the horses and came back to 3 pages of remedies.

For a bleeding cut, a cobweb will plug it up. Can also pack it with ssugar, but that has been mentioned.

Arthritus pain and inflammation, gin and raisins. Soak the raisins in gin for 3 days in a fruit jar, then take a spoonful of the raisins a day. Have a chaser handy as they taste nasty. After consuming all the raisins, drink the remaining gin. That way, if you still hurt-you won't care.

Dehydration-1 spoonful salt to 5 spoonfuls of sugar in a glass of water. drink slowly until all gone. For severe dehydtation, drink another round. It will keep you out of the hospital and $$$$$$$.

Food poisoning and diarreha-Apple cider vinegar and honey mixed half n' half. Pour about 1/3 cup in a small glass and fill with water. Sip slowly. Even if vomiting, enough will get into your system to do some good. Apple cider vinegar is nature's disinfectant and honey is anti-viral. It will kill the bad germs in your gut but not harm the beneficial bacteria you need. Antibiotics, on the other hand, kill everything so that your body is out of balance.

Just heard this one yesterday-WARTS! mix baking soda and mineral oil to a paste and cover the wart, then put a bandaid on it. It will come off in a couple of days. (looks in mirror at wart on temple and laughs wickedly..........)

Urine is supposedly good for athletes foot. Never had to try that...........

My uncle swears by peeing on his feet to keep them clear. He says my great gramma told him to do it when he came home from Vietnam with "jungle rot".

Urine is actually good for a ton of things. I, personally, have never used it, but my husband has used urine to clear up athlete's foot with good results.

I just disinfect the shower more often.

diarrhea - nutmeg and sugar

cough - dissolve rock candy in a bottle of whiskey, sweeten with honey (raw honey)

actually, for all the cures here, I believe it should be RAW honey. The stuff you buy in the store is pasteurized so not the same.

My dad always told us to grab our earlobes when we burned our fingertips. Pinch the earlobe with the burned digits and the heat goes out of them. My DH won't try it cause he thinks it's silly. That's ok, he doesn't burn his fingers nearly as often as I do, LOL

The Romans used to gargle with urine to prevent gum rot and whiten their teeth!

The Greeks had a few not so nice names referring to this practice so that too white teeth became a bad thing!!

It probably did a great job at both but ate away at their enamel.....
