Weird Roo Behavior

Oh Pepper is adorable! And a beautiful roo! He looks very inquisitive with the star wars figure, there! Such a cutie!!

Pepper is way cute! I would love to have a chicken livein the hosue with me but the rest of the people i live with wouldnt go for that. How did you train him to peck at the door when he has to go?

I didn't train him, he trained me. ha ha

I wuold assume it is just habit because every morning I let him out of his cage and walk him to the door, so he knows that is what is going to happen first. Then a treat, then I feed my animals etc etc. Same routine every day.
He pecks at the door for some reason if he is in the den and wants to go out. Or he will go stand by the door and make racket.
He also pecks at the door to come in when the sun starts to go down. Or will get up on the porch railing and stare in the window at me.
Chickens are not as ignorant as people think. They can learn simple things. I don't think anyone has ever taken the time to teach a chicken anything entertaining.
Pepper is one of a kind. Both of his parents were extroidinary birds with such great personalities. They loved people.
