Weird things only poultry people get.

Anyone here give their birds baths? I have to for my fair to get the bugs out and it always looks like I fought a bobcat off afterards

I do it sometimes when the look scraggly from dirt and stuff and they look adorable afterwards.

I’ve had to explain to my boss that “no there isn’t just the white chickens” when he asked about what chickens I show.

I’ve also had to gently explain to a little girl that eating an egg wasn’t murder. (She was vegan and told her classmates that she didn’t eat eggs because they all turned into baby chickens and eating them was murder) that’s clearly more understandable because she was younger, but that’s a super common assumption.

Right?? I don’t understand how that isn’t common knowledge. Like if all eggs are “turning into” chicks..then what’s the point of a rooster?

I have nothing against roosters, I just think that they wouldn't work well in my current situation. However, I would love to have one (or more) in the future for protection, looks, and to hatch eggs that came from my own flock!

I love my cockerel. He is currently in ‘puberty’, so he isn’t too interested in cuddles, but I know he’ll be a cuddle bug again after his hormones settle down.
