Weird wild duckling

I'm not really sure because he doesn't get really close to him, but seems to always be within ear and eye shot of him. When Gaddy moves, Trouble moves. Whatever section of the lake Gaddy is on, Trouble is on, too, but not too close. When I hear that gadwall quack, I know Trouble is nearby.

Are they close to same age or is Gaddy an older adult? does Gaddy mind having a shadow?

Gaddy is about 3.5 years old. I don't think he really notices Trouble because Trouble stays far from him and doesn't get in the way. (Gaddy is also focused on his girlfriend right now). I'm wondering maybe it's a flock identification thing that I've never noticed. Gaddy is a leader and Trouble knows him from when he was a baby, so maybe he sees him as the one to keep an eye on. I've caught Trouble approaching other gadwalls, too, when he was younger, but they swam away from him.

Well, I take that back about Gaddy not knowing about Trouble because, one time, I think the gadwall lost sight of Trouble and began quacking. He wasn't anywhere near his girlfriend at the time. When Trouble moved towards him, he stopped quacking. Could be co-incidence, though.

I believe this is Trouble because he has the squarish head and fuzzy butt that he has. Also, he has long, tapered wings. But, he could also be the other male duck that is close to him in development because this duck has very little yellow on his bill. This duck is the only drake with no green head.

Trouble has flecks of green on his head, but I'm noticing white and orange flecks, too. I don't know if he's got a sinus infection or he's starting to get the rounded cheeks of a call duck. There is one male bibbed call duck at the lake (he might be a mix because he is a little larger with less compact face than the calls I've seen). I'm wondering if this little duck might be the daddy instead of a gadwall.

I didn't see any gadwalls nearby, but this duck was found very far from where I used to see him.

Here is the little call duck, who is actually very old.

Trouble looks to be changing daily now, so pretty, the call is pretty too.

I've read all 5 pages! Please keep updating on Trouble. I love reading about his progress. Take care.
Thanks! If I can keep finding him and identifying him, I will keep everyone updated. The good thing is that he appears healthy and is flying around, so I think he's going to make it.
