Look forward to following alongAs long as I can distinguish him from the other ducks, I will keep posting updates. But, it's extremely hard as several ducks now look like him.
I agree, I think he follows the gadwalls because he's more their size and he grew up around them. Though some of the gadwalls swim away when he approaches, I think they don't consider him a threat or competition.
Showing off for the ladies eh?I didn't see him today or any gadwalls. But, I think he's flying around with his brothers and I saw three ducks, two big and a smaller one, out flying around the lake. Young drakes seem to like to do that once they get their wings. I once saw Ducky fly halfway to my house one time.
That's sweet. so breeding season is in Spring will they choose a mate then?Yeah, usually that's why they do it-to show how strong they are. I think, in Trouble's case, he doesn't want to be by himself.
By the way, Ducky, I think, is still around with the same female. He got very aggressive when he was younger, but has mellowed out.
