Weird wound on roosters comb? And strange patch on bum?

This is my new rooster George. 1 year old. He has some kind of scab on his comb and it appears there is some swelling around it possibly. It doesn't seam to bother him a bit. His old owner said it was frostbite but it seams frostbite would be on the tips not the middle. Is this Fungus Among Us?

And is it contagious to my other birds?

Hes on quarantine now but I need to get that cage back by tomorrow so I'll have to put him loose in the yard. My other chickens are confined.










Also as you can see in this last picture the tips of his comb are purple. I thought it was an infection at first because it wasn't that way yesterday but I quickly realized that it was purple when he was relaxed and as soon as we excited him it turns red again. It is a HUGE comb and he also has Huge wattles. Why is it that his comb turns color like that?

I haven't seen that kind of a lesion before--maybe someone else has. It isn't fowl pox. I have a banty rooster whose comb gets blue tips and then changes back to red now and then within the same day. I would think it had to do with his heart perhaps, or how much oxygen he is getting.

Anyone know what this is or how to fix it? I put triple antibiotic on it today.

It does look like a wound, perhaps from another roo. The purple tips are common in cold weather, but as stated can be a heart or circulation issue. Keep up treatment with the antibiotics
Cause it does look a little infected.

I just put some anti fungal on it today. Here's some new pics. I think the little black spots are fly bites as he did not have them before coming here and there are biting flies.

I want to make sure this is nothing contagious to my other chickens. I have to let him out of the crate today so I need to know asap!

i would put petrolium jelly on t, it should keep the wound safe from infection also if you can i would give him a bath. it may seem weird but the day after i gave my rooster a bath his comb looked wonderfull and healthy. if you want some extra "backup" you can buy strong medicated feed, i have some and they keep it in one of the small bags.

The little bites on the comb probably are just fly bites. The brown mark may well be frostbite scaring, but I haven't seen pictures of that. There are several conditions of the comb causing black or gray spots--dry fowl pox, bug bites, peck wounds, and a fungal infection called favus. Ok I just gave him a bath. I also noticed that he has a bald spot on the under side of his tail above the vent area. What is this? I did not see any mites.

It doesn't look like frost bite because it seams if that were the case it would be on the tips not the middle.
