Weird yellow bump (picture attached)

My 6 week old chick has an odd yellow hard bump at the base of her throat. At first we figured it was the crop but after a few days it's still there but now it's slightly black on the bottom with an odd white small string slightly hanging out. Any ideas of what's going on.

"She" is a handsome young cockerel.. and yellow is the skin color.

It does look like it could be an ingrown feather.. I can see any red irritation or puss pulling behind the skin, can you... I MIGHT mess with it if it seems right near the surface, but I'm a picker and I like "doing surgery".

If the bird doesn't seem bothered, might be a good choice to let it work itself out.
