One of my year-old hens laid this egg. I've seen strange eggs before, but the tail-like membrane of this one takes it to a new level. Input needed, please!

Jeez i've never seen anything like it to be honest only thing can say make sure she getting enough calcium and oyster shell and obv daylight which im sure u doing already sorry can't help any more xx

It's a soft shell egg...plus...with the 'tail'.
Hopefully just a one off glitch.

Tell us about the bird that laid it.
How old in weeks or months?
How long has she been laying?
What all and how exactly are you feeding her?

12-month-old Buff Orpington. One of flock of five (also two Barred Rocks, one Ameraucana, and one Rhode Island Red). All one year old. All have been laying since about 5 months old. They eat layer feed and scratch grains/corn, bug treats, and backyard foraging. The other four hens have never had any problematic or abnormal eggs.
