Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

If you want to you can check youtube for video on the broomstick method. If you don't trust yourself hitting accurately with a hatchet then get a machete.

Oh hail, then we'd all be in trouble!

Morning Friends.  :caf     Busy day for me today.

But question... I know there are a million threads and tons of info out there on processing, but I'd like to know how my friends do it.  I've got some birds that need to be processed.  I'm not giving them away, might as well eat them.  But we've only processed one of our own (and I didn't consider him a "pet").  Plenty of wild game, turkeys, deer, etc, so its mainly the "deed" that I can't decide the best way to handle.

I have an old traffic cone and use a scalpel. Birds stay calm and the cone holds them so they don't thrash around. Then usually I skin and take the legs and breast meat so I don't have the hassle of plucking and gutting. Works for me since I'm only doing one or two birds at a time. Quick and easy.

Good morning, Pond Scum.  I'm safely on my lily pad watching the world go by.
. Just don't fall asleep and roll off!

Just a quick, single slice with the scalpel, or a circular round-the-neck motion? Cut the whole head off, or just the jugular and let them bleed out?

Hey, maybe I could handle the machete that way....

It sounds like all this talk of culling is developing into a rather macabre fascination for you, WV. Hope DH behaves himself today, otherwise it will be curtains for him
