I don't have any broodies and I never have
Advice please! Me and the Mrs. are planning on trying our hand at meat birds. For the trial run we thought we would order Cornish X Rock chicks from a hatchery then raise them to slaughter in a chicken tractor. I've raised Cornish X Rocks before but sold them.

And me neither!
You will if you hatch Calls from me...![]()
Around here we don't call them broodies what we call them is not allowed in print. On a more serious note the draw back to most all easy to make Incubators is the egg turner . Not an issue if you hand turn .Auto turners cost fifty dollars for LG and other small incubators . Banti's tote is something and proves you can make a bator out of just about anything . To me it was much easier to buy old and refurbish GQF cabinets . I'm thinking about one that is made out of plastic that a LG turner will fit in but use the GQF heating wire and thermostat . I'm looking for full view for sending to schools in or area . Problem is the expense looking at around 200 to build such a incubator . From a egg hatched per dollar spent stand point it's clearly not worth it. So a lot of thought going into this and haven't decided yet . A used Brinsea 20 might end up being a cheaper choice . Those hardly ever come up for sale around here . The DIY incubator thread is loaded with good tips .
please do!!I can help with that.....![]()

I think Cornish crosses are the most popular. Also Bresse are supposed to taste fabulous, grow fast and processable fairly young, so you may look into them. I have no direct experience, just what I've read or been told by friends. How bout quail?
