A couple of my music students cancelled today, so I'm goofing around on my phone while I wait for the next one.

OK....
I have 2 incubators up and running... I want them to run for 3 more days to make sure they are steady....
Then.... what to set? (only the bantams are laying and pure, one rooster over them a bantam Wheaten Ameraucana)
I think in another 2 or 3 days I should have 18 Bantam Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. Clearly they ALL go in.
I only have 2 brown eggs so farI think they are from my 2 bantam Rhode Island reds... what happened to good egg production??
But they should make pretty green egg layers... so those 2 are going to be incubated. .. also... my roo (wheaten) over Rhode Island red should be clear as chicks...right? Huh... I think I need to check the genetics calculator
Then I have a bunch of cream eggs that I think are from my single blue Wyandotte. I love blue chickensIf I hatch these, 1/2 will be blue... so clearly not a Wheaten Am (I think), but eggs might be hard to tell apart... but having only one blue chicken is bad.... but having to have more pens to easily get pure bred birds is bad
Maybe I shouldn't hatch those. .... if my pretty and productive blue Wyandotte hen dies... I will just have to mail order from a hatchery... maybe...
Then I have some white eggs from the nicest looking and sweetest little single comb bantam leghorn you ever did see! Should I incubate those? Same problem as with the eggs from the blue Wyandotte...
Oh wait! Some of the white eggs are from my d'anver girl, and she is wheaten!!! Those chicks will be hard to tell! (unless everyone has the comb that they are supposed to have, no recessive surprises, then I could tell those apart that way

sure )
oh wait... incubate them all, as long as the chicks are clearly different from the pure bred Ams...sell the extras. yeah... right!oh... except for the sneaky white eggs from the wheaten d'anver!

Easy peasy... at hatch time separate the eggs by using cut sections (with knots tied to make bags) of pantyhose... or use produce bags... the plastic mesh stuff...
Um, I'm jumping in here rather than try to catch up.
Hope all is well with everyone!Any questions, please send a PM. I don't want to clutter the pond with boring stuff.
I couldn't get my phone to load any pics yesterday. But it was really lovely out and I had some friends come visit me.View attachment 1315720
Oh joy..... Such pretty ducks.
I like the zip tie around the leg....I thought of doing that then naming the ducks.... After the color of the wire tie..... You know."Mr White" " Mr Green" etc just like in the movie "Reservoir Dogs"....
Whatever floats his boat???
He also picked Rainbow Sherbet and fudge pops...
Get to play more..![]()
Want me to fix ya a bowl? Not sure mailing that is a good idea butRemember, I have pretty colored cochin eggs.
I can only imagine what an egg shipped from WV to AK would look like when it arrived.
I'm sure I have some tulle laying around in mom's old stuff. Wish I had thought about that for the cochin hatch. I had them marked by pen they came from, and tried to write down colors, but so many hatched while I was gone, I didn't get them all. :/
Love ya Debs!
You jump in whenever and wherever you want!
Those deringers are awesome!
I made these from coated wire. not sure how well they are going to work yet, design in progress.

I have a horrible migraine today. Can't eat anything, makes me sick to my stomach. But i bet some rainbow sherbert would sure help.![]()
Nice!I got 10 hens that were left at the chicken houses I’m working at. They’ve been outside on their own for the last 13 weeks. They were breeders of some sort, I’m thinking Cornish cross breeders? They just seem too heavy to be breeders for laying hens.
temping, but I refuse to ever again have chickens with feathered feet! Those do not work well at my house.Remember, I have pretty colored cochin eggs.

huh... look too beefy for Leghorns and not beefy enough for cornish.I got 10 hens that were left at the chicken houses I’m working at. They’ve been outside on their own for the last 13 weeks.
