One if our local chicken people just found out she has infectious bronchitis in her flock. I'm no help in that arena (yet) - anyone here have experience with it?
Infectious bronchitis is a chronic respiratory disease. It's a virus, so the symptoms just have to be ridden out. They carry it for up to a year once they have it and will pass it to any other chickens they come into contact with.
Additionally, it will infect the reproductive tract along with the respiratory tract. This can lead to odd, misshapen eggs and a decrease in egg production for the rest of the infected birds' lives.
Only thing to do is to either cull them all, or wait out the year without introducing new birds, keeping the flock closed during that time.
