I'm doing better than I deserve probably. Just not spreading out so much anymore except around the middle maybe. How ya been pert? You don't drop in much anymore. No major problems this year, I hope?
Wow! Where?
I need to make this quite clear, I’m completely barking mad.....in a very British kind of way of course.
As you can see, I have company. Two of the tribes that live here frequent my house. The senior hens (Fat Bird and Ruffles, black Maran and her best mate gray half Maran in left of picture) often come on their own to get away from the youngsters.
Cillin (the rooster in the nest box) has been very concerned about the lack of eggs. He just loves the sight of an egg! He’s been trying to encourage the hens to lay for the past couple of days. It’s a bit like the general forums, he hasn’t quite realised that the hens don’t lay eggs like machines and take some time off during the winter.
The young rooster with the straight comb is Block and his sister Tackle is the darker of the honey colored hens. Also featuring, Treacle (cockerel with pea comb) Fudge (lightest colored hen), Mel (she’s got minor brain damage I believe from birth problems).
This is one tribe. There are four here.View attachment 1608961

I’m always having trouble understanding the language and all the specialist terms on this site.
I understand why I’m getting funny looks now. It’s a pond right?
Course it is, and that must mean ducks and I’ve banging on about chickens!
Not to worry. I’ll probably get one of those educator badges for this but one of the creatures in the picture is a duck....I’m pretty sure of this because it doesn’t cluck........mind you, I could be wrong because it doesn’t quack either. I don’t know, I don’t think it’s one of the black ones, but you know, we all keep our chickens in different ways, and we are all different people, and all chickens are different and when I stop sitting on this fence and come to a decision I’ll be sure to let you all know.View attachment 1609314
I don’t know, what do you lot think? Is there a way I can tell which ones a duck apart from chucking them in the water and seeing who can swim?![]()
X2Yer supposed to stay out of the ditches.![]()

X100Since I'm so nice.... only throw the WHITE one in water.
Seriously, we are just a good group of odd friends, that have bonded because of our uniquities. "Birds of a feather" as we say.
If you stick around, you'll see that we don't judge (well, we might judge others, but not each other lol!), we have a blast with any ole subject, we cry together, laugh together, tease each other, but most fondly support each other in any way necessary.
For example, I would have been lost without these folks when my husband suffered a ruptured appendix and was rushed to emergency surgery a couple years ago. This group held my hand from afar, and kept me from going crazy.
Recently, we supported @room onthebroom through a horrific saga!! -- she purchased a new washing machine that turned out to have come from hell.
So many examples I could cite, but I'll try not to bore you. I'm just saying this whole "family" is awesome, and I'd be lost without them. Stick around, I think you'll like us.![]()
No worries.. if we don't understand ya we'll ask.. or just laugh... or ask then laugh..I already do and the parody is not about anyone I've seen post here, or at BYC Cafe
Humour, it's difficult. It has been said that the US and UK are divided by a common language.
Nice Muskovies!!Anyway, ducks (I know, the ones with the webbed feet) I look after them too. Fortunately, they don’t come in the house. It’s always puzzled me how they can get shite on the ceiling.
I’ve been told in no uncertain terms on the duck forums that Muscovies are ducks and not geese despite not having any Mallard genes. Ducks, Geese, whatever, I think they are great, but not big on the cute looks department......could be some identifying thing going on there.View attachment 1609382
