Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

first seasons eggs will always be darker.... just the same with the brown ones.
I have a pair of young BCM hens in their 1st year of laying. One lays a darker egg than the other, right now, & the other day she laid one that was all dirty before I got it; really dirty, to the point that I had to use one of DW's green plastic scrubber pads on it. Surprisingly, the dark brown came off, to reveal a very light tan shell undereath. After I thought a minute I realized what was going on, but I'd never witnessed it before. Kinda neat, really.

Last year I planted eleven of these canna lily corms, they were about this size with only one eye.

They went insane! Almost all of them (all but three) grew 15-20 stalks and got about 2 1/2 feet in diameter.
This is about average, there were some bigger ones. That’s my foot for size comparison. That boot is a size 13.

And here’s the wagon load I got from just digging 8 of them. I left the three smallest ones.

You ever stopped to think how tall you might have turned out if so much hadn't been turned under for feet? :D

View attachment 1633932 Here’s this weeks color bouquet of Cayuga eggs. DD3 cracked open all but the original black one to make banana bread yesterday. It’s interesting (& a little gross) that the chalaza is a smokey black color.
Is that normal? Shaw? Jane? Anybody? I assume it’s normal, but it made me squeamish & fished them out. Aren’t these pretty tho? I love the black & the pewter ones the best, but it looks like grey is what we’ll get the most.
I've never noticed anything black on the inside. . but I blew out my darkest ones.

Hello Pond.
We took a 2.5 hour drive north today to pick up some pigeons. Super nice couple, the man obviously cared greatly for his birds. But he was diagnosed with cancer and has to downsize. He sure has some beautiful birds.

We made a day of it, stopped several places along the way, including a new Duluth Trading store. I need a bigger wallet before we go back there. :p but it was a nice store to browse. Left at 9:00 this morning, got home just after dark. Long day, think I’ll kick back with a movie.

I LOVE Ball Room Dancing... waltz is awesome.... But I used to know quite a few of the standard steps and some that are country as well.

Waltz, Polka, Shoddish, One step, Two step... Fox trot. I even can do the swing... but for the life of me I cant do the Jitterbug.

Many Country and western places have free dance lessons before the band starts. and often They will teach the ball room steps once a month.

Waltz Polka and Shoddish are the same step .... and I believe if I am not mistaken the two step and the fox trot are the same step...

deb Who hasnt danced in forty years
That's awesome! I can do a few of those.. Id love to learn swing and jitterbug..:D
Im not sure if any of the bars around here do that.. Have to check..:D
