Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

:hugs ! Thank you so much! That's exactly who I'm looking for! U kno if she jus disappeared?
I talked to her a while ago.... She just said she got too busy.... With the kids and all.
I guess I can understand...I sometimes have trouble finding time to stop by.... But I try to make sure to get here if I'm gone for a few days.
You guys are all friends as much as anyone.... In fact you all are who I talk to more than anybody....I live very rural and my friends are all miles away..... My few neighbors are mostly elderly.
Raul is the only one around here my age.... And he's one busy person. Never seen anyone who works so hard.... Wish I had his energy....

Now this is going to seem very strange, probably completely unreasonable and definitely antisocial to all you smart phone interweb chat warriors but I don't have a phone; not even one of those old fashioned ones that just allows you to talk to the person at the other end of the wire.:p
I used to have a couple. When I got on the plane to come out here I took out the SIM cards, placed the phones on the floor and jumped up and down on them before tossing them in the trash.:)
Along with the phones went my credit card; it was on fire anyway, my crappy National Health false teeth, my watch which had an alarm on and the memories of a lot of people that seemed terribly important at the time but with hindsight just stressed me out.
I came here to go a bit feral. It's only been the past few months that I've had an Internet connection in my house and look where that's got me.;)
Happy to be included in your ferality

thats a difficult situation. Unfortunately most people in a small town or village know where people live even if they have never spoken to them. Even here where The population density in the desert is one per every ten acres.... even less in some areas.

Possible solutions:
1. Can you arrange to speak to people before they Arrive at your door...? then meet them at a public place that is not your land?

2. Can you place a sign on your road to call you ?

3. Can you make it a rule to keep chickens in Transport containers after arriving.

Biosecurity can be breached by any one of those people who simply step out of their car.... So Ideally its best arrange a meet at their house. That would help you take a look at their husbandry practices.

Good luck

Perchie.... Is one per Ten acres considered dense?
Seems like a lot of people although it probably isn't. I have a hard time picturing that. I can go for miles and miles here with out seeing another person.
Although I'm guessing if I was to take total population of the U.P. and divide it by acreage I would be surprised what the results would be. Because most people live in town. I'm guessing out of town the population is measured in people per square mile.
Most people outside of town send live on at least forties..... Forty acre plots are the most common sold here....I wish I could find a nice 5 acre plot somewhere..... But they aren't a lot of small plots to be had..... Land here is still pretty cheap though. I paid $800 for my acre that is my yard. Hope some day to buy the next acre too..... But I'm sure I'll pay more than $800 for it.....

Woo Effing Hoo.... :wee

I know right.... This dang hip is so painful.
Even if it's not the most painful thing I ever had.... It's definitely the most serious injury.
I had a real bad pinched nerve years ago that was absolutely miserable but it healed faster (it helps that the diagnosis was swift and treatment was timingly).
When your relying on the VA though you have to move to a slower drummer.
If I pushed the issue they would have seen me quicker. But if you've ever been to a VA hospital and seen the patients.... Only a heartless person wants to try and take cuts in line...... Walking around a VA hospital makes your issues seem very small...... I'm so proud of those people..... Really makes me ashamed of some of the whiners I see out in the real world

My son got me a cell phone in December. He and my brother insist on calling me on it. I never wanted one. I have a landline and that suits me. So far I had my son put some of my favorite songs on it. I don't use it to call anyone. I don't even know what "It's" phone number is. My brother was able to add it to his service acct. for $ 10. a month - I would have rather had the money toward groceries.

They want to be able to reach me at any time. Oh bother. I never take it with me. Kinda like my sister she has one, leaves it home all the time.

I found out the population density.... For the U.P. is 19 people per square mile..... The area I live it's 10.1 per square mile......

ours came down mostly during the night. Buried the steps off the porch to the critter yard. The other side of the roof let go this morning and buried the front porch.
You know I've been thinking about putting gutters up.... But how would I keep them from getting knocked down....I bet I could design some that I could easily take off for the winter.... Problem is would I have time to take them off?
