started getting too populated around here a few years ago because land was cheap so all the city folks started buying up the lake lots, then the just off the lake lots when gas was cheap and disposable income was up. Thankfully that came to screeching halt and now all those fancy "vacation/retirement houses they built are up for sale and nobody's buying. Guess they found out what it really means to live or even vacation up here once you take a good look at what's NOT here.

We have the same deal going here..... Land is still cheap here compared to downstate.... But lucky there really hasn't been a "BOOM" because we are so far away ....I mean seriously it's over an eight hour drive to Detroit. So most people still stay below the bridge.

I understand your feeling about phones and all..... But I love my phone.
Like I said I haven't had a lap top in forever.... But without my phone it's pretty lonely around here. In the summer my neighbors go to camp in the only one around most of the time.... So it's my tether to the outside world.
My next nieghbor to the South is over 10 miles away....... Although I'm only a mile from little lake to the north. When we first moved here before there was any internet it was pretty lonely.....
But I don't sit on my phone all the time either so it's not like it's really a distraction.
That's why I disappear for a day or two.... Cuz I don't hover over my phone screen

Facebook has super cracked down on animal sales. You have to be a bit creative if you want to post animals for sale.

Which is sad.

Facebook was the main way people in Alaska talked and sold stuff.

Thats really sad and Annoying! Farm animals should be different, i could understand w pets, but livestock is a whole diff ball game. I can be creative but im really not worried about sales like DH is so maybe this time thatll work out for me

Oh I so love roses.... Tea Rose lane is the name of my easement.... I want to do Desert Rose as my business name but am happy with Sonoran Rose as well. Just making sure my options are open.

Not a fan of Facebook.... I would rather use a blog format or a full on Website page. My sales will be different.

Etsy may be an option but I am not wanting to pay a third party Its bad enough having to pay Pay pal....

Then there is the whole format thing. I want to be able to show lines of Jewelry broken down to types. Rings, earrings, bracelets, pendants... I have my Camera Setup ONly need space for it...

Write ups will be easy for me, since they will all be original designs .... And Yes I can do Technical style writing if need be. Short to the point for those who dont want paragraphs of explanation.

This will be probably my very first task when I move home... Besides getting the house rewired...

Work with a good website designer and hit the floor running.

I know your a strong capable woman but if u have any elec questions i could ask my dad and DH for you they just redid our whole place. Dad is a big name in construction down here, a super for 2 companies over that last 30 years. He did most of the school contracts for additions, one of the juvinille jails, and an airport addition.

I too would rather those types of formats but i know DH has family w poultry so he wanted to show them possibilities of the good lines before they go askn after em, and fb wouldve been the best place to get the knowledge out. Not people were close to mind you just the far reaches of his dads side who mayve seen a post here and there. half of them do cock fighting. He hoped to show them a better way to use poultry.

Now this is going to seem very strange, probably completely unreasonable and definitely antisocial to all you smart phone interweb chat warriors but I don't have a phone; not even one of those old fashioned ones that just allows you to talk to the person at the other end of the wire.
I used to have a couple. When I got on the plane to come out here I took out the SIM cards, placed the phones on the floor and jumped up and down on them before tossing them in the trash.
Along with the phones went my credit card; it was on fire anyway, my crappy National Health false teeth, my watch which had an alarm on and the memories of a lot of people that seemed terribly important at the time but with hindsight just stressed me out.
I came here to go a bit feral. It's only been the past few months that I've had an Internet connection in my house and look where that's got me.

Believe it or not i hate the phones. I have alot of friends and family who would understand if i disappeared because they know i really dont like toting this thing. I was still a teen after my dad told me he wasnt getting me a phone, my bf got me one and by the end of a wk i was done w havin people able to reach me anytime they wanted when that phone broke i didnt have another one for Years in my Twenties until i got out of prison an my dad decided he would pay for it if i would answer it for him. Id love to just have a house line and a computer but alas im stuck w the pocket computer/camera that rings at least 4 times each day plus an unGodly amount of messaging and this forum i cant live without anymore

I don’t have a FB page. Yet.. if ever. I use a few local groups, that’s about it. I saw the ring on Duck Lives Matter, I think. That group was started by an ex member here too, but it’s gotten pretty stupid overall, so I don’t follow it much. But I usually get alerts when Rav’s OH posts pics. Lol

Yes Ross! Shes still on my fb shes a busy lady and workin full time while raising a family and keeping chickens thats why we dont see her. I remember when she bowed out too. Your creative posting is what i imagined "free alarm clocks" but obviously im remembering the days everyone had a fb farm acct and i hate thats not the case now it helped get alot more info out there about breeders. I guess I can understand...I sometimes have trouble finding time to stop by.... But I try to make sure to get here if I'm gone for a few days.
You guys are all friends as much as anyone.... In fact you all are who I talk to more than anybody....I live very rural and my friends are all miles away..... My few neighbors are mostly elderly.
Raul is the only one around here my age.... And he's one busy person. Never seen anyone who works so hard.... Wish I had his energy....

Yep, All we can do is try to survive.. I just have to figure out which tools will work best for me.

Sometimes I wish I could do the same, but I know I wouldn't be able to not be with my family, they are what keep me here... (they are also what drives me to want run sometimes.)

We have storms moving in today.. and why not, it IS grocery day after all..

Ima have to send em to freezer camp when they make 6 wks, in ten days, thats when the breeder says theyd be ready. A friend wants about 6 hens but i need the extra males cage space. Im tryn to get two of my neighbors and a cousin to start their own quail egg flocks. I could house the remaining hens after the roos are gone w jus a few breeding roos but you kno id like to start up some people. Plus i need as much cage space as possible for growing out chicks all spring and summer. Each of those two neighbors has been here several times cash in hand askn after fresh eggs. Im hoping when i can give them each a doz theyll be sold on the idea of a small cage w a couple small birds for their own fresh eggs especially when i tell them i wont get enough extras to supply them. Mother in law will get most of my extra chickens eggs, while i feed all the quails to this family. Everything that doesnt go in the bator.

Perchie.... Is one per Ten acres considered dense?
Seems like a lot of people although it probably isn't. I have a hard time picturing that. I can go for miles and miles here with out seeing another person.
Although I'm guessing if I was to take total population of the U.P. and divide it by acreage I would be surprised what the results would be. Because most people live in town. I'm guessing out of town the population is measured in people per square mile.
Most people outside of town send live on at least forties..... Forty acre plots are the most common sold here....I wish I could find a nice 5 acre plot somewhere..... But they aren't a lot of small plots to be had..... Land here is still pretty cheap though. I paid $800 for my acre that is my yard. Hope some day to buy the next acre too..... But I'm sure I'll pay more than $800 for it.....

Yep total population mostly lives in town Probably about three hundred homes.... The rest of the seven hundred is spread across the parimeter of Jacumba which is HUGE

but the population density is appx 48 per square mile.... but I suspect about 90 percent of that square mile is uninhabitable.

Got any pics of your new setup you can share? I can't even remember what kind of chickens you have now?
