Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Sometimes you can sweet talk a dog out of barking and they cool down. Or your assumptions are wrong.

One time I passed a house and a furious Chihuahua came shooting down their driveway to get me. I figured I couldn't use the "soccer ball" movement, his people might be watching. Oddly enough when the dog was within striking distance it started wagging it's tail. It turned out to be the sweetest little dog. He kept trying to follow me, and I was worried the owners would think I wanted to steal him.

The Chihuahuas our neighbor had were not. They had one very nasty one and of course would let it run free. Then they got a second smaller one and it was very sweet for awhile. It ended up as nasty as their original dog. Lady would stand outside watching it yapping and snapping around my heels and never call them off.

One day I saw an official state van come and take them away - van said "contagious diseases," on the side. Never got the story on that.

We can only look back and wonder why really . We learn from our mistakes . I just wish people would realize that we were not the ones that made the mistakes. Our fathers and mothers were not the ones that made the mistakes . History is just that history . You can tear down every marker, burn every book and yet the history remains . One has to study history to keep from making the mistakes of the past .I just wonder what happened to,I want to be an American . Now it's I want America to be like me :idunnoLincoln was a great man . The one thing he couldn't change was the brutality of some people . I don't care what religion you are . I don't care that someone is Gay . But damn it all I'm sick of hearing about it every time I turn on the TV. I have to ask what are our rights ? do we have any ? Is this meant to be ? In the future will someone like me look back and say man we screwed up big time :idunnoSomebody message me in the future . If I get it you'll know it didn't burn up in route :lau

Amen to this! :thumbsup

Morning pond pals, I'm back :frow
Hand is still a bit of a pretty color but otherwise good to go:cool:. Turns out I had just managed to dislocate a small bone in the wrist/hand junction and when the swelling started going down it popped back where it belonged and, voila! Pain gone and I could use the hand again with only the discomfort of a minor sprain :D.
Now, :fl the color goes away before Monday when I have my 6 week followup with my surgeon so I don't have to explain what happened and get in trouble for barefooting in the chicken garden. Also need to leave the DH home, I know he'd rat me out!!! :hmm :smack

Goofing off this morning watching day 3 of the Royal Ascot, waiting for the Gold Cup coming up. I love turf racing and this 2 mile +4 furlong on the flat is like the super bowl of turf racing. It's also been run for 300 yrs!
This entire 5 days of racing [s like our kentucky derby on steroids (in a good way) with a serious dress code right down to the elaborate but tasteful bonnets and longer dresses of the ladies and the men all in top hats and tails or evening suits. You could probably easily set the entire Churchhill Downs including paddock and stalls inside the Ascot stadium with lots of room to spare, its enormous . To give you an idea of the size, the sprint race is a one mile straight run.
Can you tell how much I would love to be able to attend the Royal Ascot?

Good morning Pondeeds. @room onthebroom, Have E go with you tonight. Don't face the possibility of dealing with that guy alone. If he is irritational, PLEASE, walk away and call the authorities. Ya have me worried. :fl

Thanks!:hugs I'm a little worried too. I hate confrontation! That's why I left LA almost 30yrs ago... Too many crazy people in your face every single day. :barnie

I have the guy from waste management coming out here at 1:00. He's made it clear there's nothing he can do to mediate, but he's being a good sport & coming out anyway. My favorite neighbor said he'd try to be here when he comes. I'm hoping the crazy guy sees us out there & we can put an end to this right away. DH will be here by 6:00 tonight & we'll take the cans out together then. I wont hesitate to call the sheriff if I feel threatened, I wish I had done that last week.

Funny, we used to take the trash cans in/out with the kids, getting them used to adult chores & all that. How did my quiet world get too dangerous for kids to take the trash out? It will be months before I let them anywhere near Crazys house with a trash can in hand.

Glad it wasn’t worse. :hugs

I was sewing some curtains last night and sewed right thru my finger tip. Damn it hurts. :p

Oh, I’m also just a few miles out of Lexington Ky, oddly enough. On our way to Lisa’s. :wee

Total craziness. Please be careful.

Maybe get one of those giant super soaker water guns and drench him if he messes with you again. :gig
