Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Glad your ram knocked some sense into the dog that chased him. The dog I had before Ruger used to chase my horses. No matter what I did, he wouldn't quit. Until one day, my big QH gelding kicked him, rolled him, and then tripped over him as he was rolling. No injuries, but the dog kept a respectful distance after that.
Blacky's brother was unfortunate. He got tossed against the sheep shed wall.
Many people think a Ram just runs at you and tries to stab you with their horns. The rams here just want to knock you down. As soon as you're flat on the floor they'll leave you alone. This is what we used to tell visitors here. if the ram knock you down then stay down, he'' get bored and wander off eventually. What catches people out is the power a ram can generate with a head toss from standing. It's taken me right off my feet on a few occasions. The twist and butt catches you on the upper thigh just underneath the bum on most people. You end up with a lovely bruise.

Funny. This is true for me too. We have a lot of turn around of people moving in & out on my little culdesac. Sometimes I never meet or even see the people, but I meet all the dogs right away.
That's kinda funny...I still have the same neighbors for 20 years...... Some new people moved in down the road... But they are deep in the woods. And they've owned the cabin they moved into for about 20 years. They moved up here from Chicago. But in wondering if they know what they are in for during the winter. Last year we got over 300 inches of snow. They are going to have to park half a mile from their house. And drive in and out on a snowmobile. They don't have electricity either except s small generator so they can take showers and such. And they still just have a out house.... Serious change in lifestyle and they are both in their 60's.
I'm betting they move back to Chicago come spring

Been a while since I've had Crappie; just finished a plate of Gi
Lucky you... I've been craving fish for a couple days maybe I'll take some fish outta the freezer tomorrow.....I caught a nice 40" Northern last night... Was a real tussel...I was trolling with planers out. Had to stop the boat just to make headway. And trying to net her was a real challenge as well.
Caught her on this same pink reef runner... It's been three only hot lure this year.

Hey all - quite the weekend. Culled 16 birds (I still have 50, so it's not like I did anything super drastic) - some were old hens :( but it was definitely time to manage the flock a bit. Some of the meat will be fed to the pups, some will be brined and slow or pressure cooked.

Mom is here - I'll be flying with her out to my brother's new home in Texas soon.

Had parent teacher conferences all last week - went well, just kind of exhausting.

On to a new week... Ready, set, go!
