Yep, I have to cut down before winter.

I am in such a remote area... there is a negative market for chickens on the fall... no one wants to have to feed and water them over the winter.

We used to have a little Asian marketplace where we could get 7-10$ per bird. They were being processed almost immediately, but at least we didn't have to do the killing. Not sure what happened to it - it did seem a tad shady.

Living where you are shad are you familiar with the belgian sheepdog breed all started with two black dogs with white on the chest 1929 a Dr. Ruel did the first breeding your bBackie gave me that impression

Mom is here - I'll be flying with her out to my brother's new home in Texas soon.

Ugh! Hugs! Has she been there yet, or is this her 1st time? I guess with the dementia it will be like her 1st time whether she's been there or not. You might consider propping up a little sign next to her bed where she can see it the second she wakes up saying something like, "Good morning mom. I hope you have a great day today at (brothers) new house in Texas." We do this for MIL when she stays here & its an enormous help to her when she wakes up & doesn't know where she is.

Thanks. I was desperate to help her & didn't know what else to do. She would lay in there alone for an hour, panicked & trying to figure out where she was. Now, she reads the sign & comes right out. Its such a small thing that is a huge help.
