Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

You are lucky Princess has a sense of humor (not like someone I know) and didn't "Crack" you up.

My brother and I had a torrent catch us last year. Coming home from the Museum in Chicago, stopped at our Target for essentials and the sky opened up. Everyone going in was soaked to the skin - wrecked our umbrella. Thank goodness none of our clothes were see-thru when soaked.

Hey Sour and Perchie good to see you both. We did not get rain but north of us did
still cool feels good 73 ? made bread potato salad for dinner

Hot here today. I sure would like a dip in your pond!:fl
Yesterday we went up to the house to mow a path to the chicken coop and my back door. Then replace the tarps. plan was to go up today and bring the chickens up then spend the night.

100 degrees up there. I dont feel it As long as I can get in the shade every so often. Desert trees up there are like heavy unbrellas and dont need to be watered. Unfortunately I couldnt get off the lawn mower because there werent any chairs in place to sit a while. And debris kept me from simply driving under.

So things we got done. Son unloaded the garden tractor. Learned how to start it up reading the instructions on the floor boards. Then got it over to me where I was able to get on. I too learned to start it up and engage the mower and mow small strips of brush over four feet tall in some places. I was being cautious of things the mower could catch.

Longer I mowed the more I learned and made progress to the back door. Son went on to the coop.

So We both overheated Me not so much because I had a drink on board and I wasnt really doing anything physical. 100 degrees takes its toll no matter how accustomed you are to it if you cant shade your back and neck. HATS are a must. Stupid me.

So chicken move is put off till it cools down some and I have the coop ready.

all good. They are still at the place I am staying. Same temperatures Lots of shade.

When I see heat stress is when it get up to 105. They usually get up on the perches in the run and in the shade and nap. wings a little drooped. Its when the hens get in the nest box I worry. I have a design for a water chilled nest set up. Still have to draw up the plans for it.
