Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

we Got a bag of grass at the feed store. Bermuda. No charge.... Dang girls kicked it out immediately.

I think I may get them some Alfalfa to eat. See if they leave the bermuda in the nest box.

LOL.

Son is loving the chickens He has threatened more than once of absconding with them. LOL.

Any cockadoodledoo yet?

Any Rhode Island Reds in that bunch I could just put shaving in
those blasted birds would kick it out .. did the same thing with the hay when I was kid :he

At home I use Rice hulls or sand. Dont buy bermuda or orchard hay, only Alfalfa once I get goats again. But that will only be for enrichment since I cannot allow free ranging at all.

Am going to learn how to ferment feed as well. better nutrition all round. Goats love it too.

Unbelievable!!! When he finally tries one out he’s gonna sound like an old 50’s Oldsmobile.:lau

Or a Didgeridoo :gig Hes showing all the signs of becoming a Gorgeous roo. Tail feathers are coming in Hackle feathers too. But he doesn't flap and arch even if he were trying. So I suspect he may have a birth defect some how in his Doodle Do box. He clucks and screeches when someone plucks a feather but that's about it. though I haven't been able to get outside to sit and really listen.

My son does all the tending. Very conscientious. When we get them home they will have full run of all the cage partitions. about 18 x 12. predator proof so far. Saw horses for perches work famously and keeps them away from the wire for sleeping. Its set up for automatic waterers. I have a 220 gallon water tote am going to hook it up to serve the water for them.

Add in a 25 pound feeder and they will be good. I am going to have Luis build me a handrail from the bedroom to the coop. With the riding lawnmower and wagon I should be able to handle all their needs.

Good Sunday morning friends :frow
still here, still kicking (oops, paddlin')
Survived another storm. yesterday the humidity was above 80 w/matching temps!!!
Is that insane or what!!! That's sticky even for tropical. Never had that here before. Of course that set the stage for storms like exactly what hit us same week last year that nearly wiped out our area and everyone is still cleaning up from. This time we were fortunate. The worst came thru near midnight, missing us by a whisker, hitting hard to our north and south, only a tree down here and there for us. Didn't even lose power, here anyway. Not too bad elsewhere. Well, except to our west. Both sides of the big river got hit pretty hard (the upper Miss) as well as northwestern WI., again. Those folks have took a real beating this year.

Can't go to just about any store here now unless you're wearing a mask. Ok with us. We don't mind and I'm grateful because that is actually protecting those of us most at risk to get hard if we catch the Covid. We're having a few supply chains issues here too, especially with the perishables. SIL who's a trucker says that a lot of the truckers and dock workers etc. are getting sick or their work places are being shutdown because someone else got sick.

DH and I don't go off the property without good reason and DH has cancelled any child visits to us for now. (Every one of them and the grandkids live in or very near "hot" zones). I worry about him because of his age and he worries about me because of my health issues. This "new normal" stinks but we know it's far worse for others, especially those trapped in the cities, so we just "self isolate" on our little chunk of northwoods, count our blessings and pray for all less fortunate.

Stay safe my Ponder Pals. :hugs Praying for you all.

Morning Pondites sitting here need my second cup. Crawled from my lilly pad very nice place to be .. Even here in our tiny town we are all wearing a mask
out.
yep. I'm rather proud of our small community as well. We're many miles from the nearest real town. Makes it easier to tell the "visitors" from the locals. Visitors are the ones NOT wearing the masks.
