Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well, finally did it and met my new oncologist yesterday. It was so very hard to say goodbye to the onc I was with since 2007 and the one who literally saved my life, twice, but it was time. The whole pandemic mess had him thinking of retirement (which he was well in the bracket already) and the long trip to see him was getting hard on the DH. There was now a cancer clinic with a hematology oncologist covered by my insurance way closer sooo. The new onc is a nice guy and very competent but when I told him about being 5+ yrs in TFR (treatment free remission) I thought he was going to have a heart attack! He immediately announced that he was not a fan of CML patients going TFR. (I took part in the original clinical trial) Oh crap! That's tough. I've been doing fine not taking chemo drugs for years with no reason I should go back on those nasty things so as long as my tests keep coming out good, I'll just keep popping in every six months for your nurses to do their thing, I'll say hi so you can get your big bucks from my insurance, and we'll get along just fine. I haven't told the DH about this yet, he's such a worry wart.
Yeah... I worry too..... I would maybe make you get checked out every 3 months. ;)

Sounds very similar to my deal; not currently on chemo or radiation. Go back in 6 months.
Not sure I'd opt for chemo again; one doesn't to be any more effective than the other, and the after-effects are a lot easier to deal with. We'll see....
Yeah. Chemo and radiation can have whopper side effects... hard at times to decide the best course of action.

I am glad you are doing well at the moment.

Hi Pert! When’s your special day? Happy upcoming or belated! :weeI’m sitting in the airport starving so I’m not gonna scan for cakes. I’m sure Natalie will share. 💜🤗

I think it was the 13th, but not sure.

Have a safe trip!!
