Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

AL AL AL!!!! I'm going to be a chicken mommy!!!
Finally I'll be able show off my baby pics!
A very nice person in my state FB swap/sell group remembered my searching post from a while back and connected with me to see if I was still looking because she had chicks and adults and was looking to downsize. AND, she's less than an hour away from us! She originally had listed that she had POL Lavender Orps but those went before I even knew about her post. What she has are a few one and two year old sussex hens etc. and two batches of chicks that are pure Orps but a mix of colors because the roo was a blue but the hens were buff. I get to pick out my chicks and I'm excited to see what colors I can get out of this mix. Oh, and the other thing is they are all big with the roo weighing 17 lbs and standing 26 inches tall and the hens are all between 12 and 14 lbs! She was warning me these could be some good sized birds! You remember that because I still have 3 birds left that may have been exposed to Mareks (even tho I've seen no sign of it for years) I still am keeping a closed flock. So, I can have fun with off standard birds since none will ever leave here anyway.
I had my choice of either 2 day old chicks or 3 week old chicks. I went for the older chicks thinking I might be able to better spot the girls from the boys and I also thought that the older chicks would do better in the brooder out in the coop.
I go Thursday morning to pick them up. I hope I can just maintain self control and not come home with all of them!!!

That's awesome congrats!! I need a new Orpington roo myself. My big boy hurt his leg and can no longer breed. They're such big, gorgeous birds!

Frost on my lily pad - cold on my butt. Good morning, Pond.

That’s awesome, Orr! I truly am excited for you! What a beautiful old building. I’m sitting here trying to imagine the inside…

Yeah, what she said.

My outdoor sink was frozen this morning.

Just a light frost, but I didn’t realize it was going to get that cold. I still have to get the rest of my potatoes out of the ground!!

Fall is here. Around the block from my house, thought this tree was so pretty, I stopped to take a pic this morning.
