So, I discovered something I think is interesting today. I saw some appleyard ducklings on FB this afternoon and I couldn't pin why they looks so familiar for a minute, then I realized I currently have a "duplicate" in the brooder. I hatched a few out last year too, only kept one and she died a few months back so I've got no good adult pics.

Mine happen to be khaki/Ancona mixes that have been either bred back to khaki or Ancona it bred back to themselves. (as is currently the case)

And she did great in those gorgeous blue feathers on the wings.

Morning, Pond.
We had white, fluffy raindrops last night. (It’s well into April, so it has to be raindrops, right?) Some of those raindrops were stuck to the ground when I woke up this morning. Fortunately, they are now gone and the sun is shining. Today is our spring day this week. It’s supposed to get up to 56, then get colder every day for the rest of the week. The high for Easter is currently forecast to be 36.

Sad morning. I have always loved Bald Eagles and we were blessed to have a nest on our "back forty" even during the years they had almost completely disappeared from the upper midwest because of pesticide poisoning causing thin eggs that would break before hatching.
Anyway, this morning it was verified that a beautiful mature female was found dead near Milwaukee from Bird Flu.
