Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Gosh I love my welsummers eggs!!! They're so dark and pretty! Just wish I had a roo. :hit they're bred to EE/OE roos at the moment, should make for interesting colors.
Other colors for comparison lol

I can’t remember. What’s Al’s method?

Do you actually use a broomstick? I used rebar because it’s thinner & stronger. Also because the tiny woman in my favorite dispatch video used rebar on a giant rooster.

Yes, usually. I've used a random stick too. Whatever I have on hand that won't break.

Has anyone here grown out Cornish X to laying age?

I have and even out crossed them with English orpingtons but the second generation didn't grow very fast or quite as large. I'm thinking about trying it again this spring though.

Oh nice. I bought 6 last week. I want to try and out cross, maybe to my game roo, that would definitely hinder second gens size but would add a lot of vigor in, or maybe my big EE roo. I figured, worst case scenario I put some fresh chicken in the freezer. Doesn't seem to bad a worst case to me. Lol.
