Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

We need a new washer and dryer-the people that owned the house before us never put in a water softener or iron remover-everything was orange-including my hair & on or 2nd washer in 3 years. Yeah we got one real quick and just trying to decide what to buy. also waiting to see if i will need surgery. hand ot was nasty today but finally somebody that listened to me!

I have a private well and don't pay for water, we fought ours for months and bubbling over and flooding the basement

Eeek. Now that would suck. We bought ours when we were still in CA, and water conservation was a big deal. Now we have a well too, and it's nice not to dump a ton of soap and stuff into the septic.

Funny, in CA it was our old top loader that would pump out more water than our garage drain could handle, and buying the HE washer fixed that issue.

We have a shallow well with high iron and manganese levels. Everything looks so much better since we put in the softener!

I don't know..... My neighbors all have water softeners..... But i think our water is Dam good. I don't get any stains..... Water taste great..... My neighbors water turms her hair orange though.....
Here it really depends on the depth of the well and the location. Since we are close to the river, luckily our water isn't as hard as it is a few streets away.

I must be weird - I really like mine and love that is uses less water and really small amounts of soap. :idunno

Well mine actually isn't toooo bad. It just doesn't hold as big a load as my old one did. Hubs jeans make 3 of mine, and I'm lucky to wash 4 pairs at a time. And I can't get away with cheap detergent. And we have hard water. My dishwasher is the same, gotta have good detergent or the stuff doesn't get clean.

our iron content is so high it has wrecked our appliances, clogged out out drain and jammed up 4 sump pumps! We have to stay on it monthly to make sure all the pipes an such are clear.

Oh wow. We just had black and orange stains in the dishwasher and we get the sulfur smell in the hot water. Although I really resisted buying the system, I'm so glad we did.

PS: Glad the OT went bad/good! It hurt like heck when I started, but it really worked!

Thank you! It is twice as swollen as it was. But I like her-she makes sense to me. Back to work tomorrow so bedtime. It was a very long day...

That why i have a separate septic for my washer..... I'd be in trouble if i didn't.

My neighbor had trouble when he went deeper..... I'm at 20 feet

My sons old house was like that.... I couldn't even stand looking at his glasses.... Stained bad..... My wife would always go and read his dishes by hand.
