Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

We lived in Alaska and had a Grizzly walk right beside our tent.  Luckily we were practicing good bear precautions so it continued on it's way and didn't bother us.
Is it the same as what is on the floor?  I have shavings on the floor but I put straw in the boxes.  Having two different things seemed to help mine.  I know everyone works it differently.

What you didn't try to give it a sandwich?

sorry, I misunderstood. I just thought you meant to keep an from sleeping. Normally I put shavings then straw but waiting to see if the hens even use these before the straw goes in

I didn't have one to spare.

Hey Pond-had a productive day. Bill has the serama breeding pens going up-each of the 12 pens is 4x2x3 so I am hoping to do 1 roo to 2-3 hens per pen. Got 4 of their cages cleaned. Babies moved from broody mom to the other babies that hatched in the bator. Marans, icelandic, mottled java & Cemani chicks are in their own portable heated coop in the garage while they grow out, dinner was made and nice to sit down with hubs for once (wine was involved) and worked with my show birds in the travel boxes and on the table-3 look really good, 2 show promise and I just want the other 2 to get experience because they are frizzle and look really good when they decide to perk up and show. also bought 4 runner ducks that I will pick up at nationals in honor of Slims untimely death by predator so Shady won't be the lone runner. Going to try to play bingo for some Cemani chicks but I am going to struggle to stay awake! oh and 2 serama chicks pipped-one is malpo-any advice????

I know right.... Actually I'm a little Shakey i just had a bear pass through.... Chocked my pistol for that one...... Not that my little .380 would hurt it

I'm soooo glad we don't have bears. Did you have any luck? I had a big doe walk within 10 yards, broad side, but heard something trailing her and hoped it was a buck, so I let her go on. She stopped at the base of my ladder, like 10 feet from me!. Buck never appeared. :(
