Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Been busy.  I see I missed a lot.

WH - glad your daughter was ok, sorry about the car. :hugs

oz- sorry to hear about everything in you community. :hugs

So- How do you get algee out of a water tanK?  I missed the vital info. :D

We went down for to see the kids at school.  Friday was my son's 18th birthday.  Time goes by too fast.

Vet is coming tomorrow to do a herd check so I will be able to send of DNA cards on the babies this week.

I got a barricaid set up around my broody girl as I candled Friday night and the eggs were looking pretty full so not sure when I will see/hear peepers but should be quite soon.  She was missing 13 days (when I noticed she was gone) and the last time I know I saw her was about 27 days ago so - :idunno  but the eggs tell me she is getting close to hatch.  Can't see much of anything other than air cell, a few veins and darkness.

Got pretty cold last night.  Might have to break down and turn the heat on, at least lighting the fireplace when we settle in for the evening.

Scrub out algae if it's already present... add just a pinch of Acidified Copper Sulfate to the drinking water to prevent algae growth... don't use in galvanized metal containers, plastic only...

Glad you got your broody separated. Hope she has a great hatch. Sounds like it will be soon.
We are down to 7 eggs as of Friday. She started with 12, I pulled 3 with no development. Then I checked for any new additions a few days later and there were only 8, then Friday I checked again and only 7. I found some shell from one of the marked eggs so I don't know if she ate them, or if another one did. I didn't count eggs today but closed her off from the others so when it is hatching time, she won't be invaded. Curious but not too concerned about the missing eggs. I was not expecting babies so anything that does come from this is excess. I already am full up on the coop so depending on how many hatch, I will be needing to re-locate some anyway. Just hope someone hasn't developed a taste for eggs.

Yeah i had my wife do that
I helped my dad when I was a kid, now I help my hubby.

We have a 250 gal white tank. How big a "pinch" do I need for that one?!

I think I have some of that laying around. I bought it to treat something a while back but didn't need all of it. Hummm.

And I think I saw that putting clorox in does not kill the algae? My hubby keeps talking about doing that, but I am with you on the taste and concerned that it could poison the chickens/llamas.

I caught most of the grow out flowers on the roost for the night :)

Glad to hear she is ok @WalnutHill

Big waterer froze for the first time last night. Tonight it'll freeze again and then the rest of the week it should stay above freezing which will give me the time to get it done so it will stay thawed all winter

I was wondering about that comment on the Haybales but just chalked it up to the pond water.

Apparently in West Va. it is the season of hay bale attacks ? Been around a lot of hay bales but was never attacked. Well once in the hay loft, but that wasn't a hay bale.
