Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Omg, I'm sooo sorry. But good riddance on your part.

:hugs :hugs

Thank you WV. :hugs

Now that I have chickens I don't care when people judge me for having a mink coat!!!! If I ever get healthy Banty, I'll wear it out in loving memory of your babies and not feel one bit bad for those furry little suckers!!!! :hugs

Ain't that the truth!! If I could afford it, I'd buy stock in those places. :tongue

Evil beasts.

Banty, I am so sorry for your babies.  I am glad you got that predator, but sorry it was too late.

Thanks. I am very glad I got him, as I would not sleep until he came back and I got him. Even if it meant pulling all-nighters in the coop....

Now, I usually even feel remorse if I swat flies or trap skunks..... But this is one beastie I feel nothing except wrath for. It killed my babies, so I killed it.

Thank you Ravyn. You all here are awesome. :hugs
That was my friend Bunny, I said I was a bad ducky momma and she was protesting...

BTW, I need some help with Chrissy, if you have a moment... Will type up a post in a minute....
That's for sure. He's never coming back for Chrissy.

If I can help, I will... you can always PM too...

Good job... you did what you had to do... and she is right, it wasn't your fault...

Just a word of warning... it may have a mate... or a litter...

Hey..... My buddy just sent me this pic..... Walleye are biting on little lake
Better get out there after them Phil.
Glad the hubs is doing well WV! Puddin, I hope you can get to the bottom of it and that its a simple fix but good deal on keeping stuff on hand! We do have a chicken vet but sometimes if you can catch it and can tell what it is its better than having to wait for an appointment. Nice job on the xmas gift Phil-she will love it!!! I'm gonna take some stuff to help me sleep and wrap a couple gifts as I am dozing off. I can tell I did a lot today-wrist hurts like heck. Chaos I will wrap your wet dog cologne first!!! :plbb New bator came so thats got to get plugged in and running too. I let my eggs sit a day before I set them to let the air cells settle so I can get it going tomorrow. Have a good night all :frow Sweet dreams!!!
:yesss:

Pics above in spoiler are of Chrissy.
I found her this morning sitting with one leg stretched out behind her. It felt ice cold, and at first I thought it was paralyzed. After getting enough wits about me to take her indoors, I looked at her wounds more closely.... She has a very swollen neck she doesn't want to move (but can,) probably due to the punctures and skin torn off around her head. That dripped all over her back, making it appear much worse than it actually was. Thanks to a few more friends of mine who managed to snap me out of my hyperventilation and guide me thru supportive care, I got the wounds washed out with saline and put a thick coating of triple antibiotic ointment on. Her leg is the part I am especially worried about... I trimmed feathers around it and found 1" of her thigh had been skinned. She is not moving it, and it appears useless. It is cool to the touch as well, unlike the other leg, which has me REALLY worried.
Again, I flushed it with saline and put TAO on it... She is drinking water and is holding her head up, and even tried to preen a bit, which both made me cry harder at how helpless she was and gave me hope.

The leg does not appear to be broken.... I've set broken legs in the past, and this seems nothing like it. In fact, it reminded me more of when I tore my rotator cuff.... Can ducks do that??

No swelling, and bones felt in place.

Quite possible. Under my coop is basically a predator house.... I wish it wasn't on skids, but at this point the coop would crumble if we tried to get them out. I set a rat trap (where chooks can't reach it) with hamburger in it right in front of its tunnel. :fl

Building a new coop in spring, when the snow melts.... After this incident, I'm considering concrete flooring.

Or hardware cloth underneath and attached to the inside walls...

Yes, they *can* dislocate joints, tear tendons, etc... is the tendon still in place??

Good that she's drinking... keep favorite treats handy, but don't worry if she doesn't eat for a bit or only nibbles occasionally... put vites and electrolytes in her water...

Haven't checked. Will go down in a minute tho....

Okay. She didn't make an effort to eat any scrambled egg I offered her.... Probably can't even move her neck to take it. :hit

I'll mix up some sav a chick for her... Got one packet left....
