i have so much snow that you can see parts of the horse's fence

sweet! 3 more call eggs due to hatch soon and all 3 internally pipped. Wrong end pipper is weak but kicked the shell by itself. Had a quarter size yolk attached this morning and that is now gone but navel isn't fully sealed. I will be

it can pull through. It's active and kicking its feet but its legs are still drawn up from being upside down in the shell.

Oh he's hanging in there, recovering from the procedure. They are going to try and put another stent in his femoral artery in a couple weeks. His arterial system will be nothing but grafts, bypasses and stents eventually.

Thanks for asking.

this needs to be fixed, ASAP

Good Morning!

Hatch complete. The final cochin that hatched is another splash!
YAYYYY!!!

They finally hatched two beautiful chicks that I found dead under them this morning. After three attempts they finally hatched chicks and then let them die.

That's awful. My broody Sara left some as they were hatching, to get to the heat light, but she was a great mother to the rest.

I think Sour the broody magician has a great suggestion!

Oz, are they setting in the same nest together? If so, try separating them next time - sometimes that helps.

Good morning, Pond Scum.

My lily pad is all dusty - better than all wet, I guess.

Sorry for the dust, I think its chick fluff.

I need a bit of advice, I the humidity in my uncles bator is either not raising or is rising very slowly, I've added rags and filled the trays but it's only at 50% I added those this morning around 7:00 there are no external pips but there were some internals this morning. So I can either leave them there and hope the humidity goes up or I could put then in my bator where I know I can get the proper humidity. Which do you think is best?

I hatch at 50% humidity and do fine with it. Now if you know that doesn't work for you then I would switch to other incubator. Water surface area makes humidity. So the more sponges/bowls/cups you have, the higher the humidity.

Are you sure the reading is accurate in that one? That sounds like a lot of surface area, and seems like it should be higher. Wet sponges are great quick-fixes. Easy to take in and out.

Personally, I wouldn't move them at this stage, I'd try to get that one straightened out. But if you have to move them, just be careful.

Ok. I don't really know what works or doesn't yet, I've only done two hatches and I had to wing it the first time cause my humidity gauge went out so I don't know what the humidity was then, at least 60% though. It was between 70 and 75 for most of this last hatch.

I calibrated both of the hydrometers that are in there. Yeah that's what I was thinking, it may just be I'm used to humidity moving up or down in a few minute in the one I made (which uses light bulbs) and this one is slower cause it uses a heating element. I've got a sponge and rag in there. Ok.
