My silly broody has just begun a game of double bluff. She went broody, so into the broody buster she went. As soon as she's there, she acts like she is not broody. Like a fool I let her out - she then sprints for the nesting box and acts broody again   Seems this is her new game - what joy

She just gets ansty wanting her chosen brood nest... leave her in it for a few days at least... no matter how she acts... might have better luck then...

I tried to make a nice spot with straw, but they won't lay there.   Looks like you have a very nice setup for them. 

No appreciation for our efforts! I've tried enticing them to better spots too, never works, lol...

Aww, thanks, Kathy... nothing special, just covered and secured from predators... they have learned by experience where safety is...

I usually do, but this seems to be a new scheme that she's cooked up - the crafty little chit

Eh, don't feel alone... we get outwitted by ducks all the time... tonight was one, in fact... the little Snowy hen we've been keeping separate at night to let her heal from overbreeding went AWOL... I went looking up the hill for her, Shade went looking up the hill for her... nada... I went back out again and she was sitting right behind our back deck with her head tucked under a clump of grass... coulda stepped on her several times, definitely walked by her many times and she was just sitting there, still and silent... :/

It's gonna be a fun morning. I got two pullets that have worked out how to fly 3.5ft and get through the security bars on the veranda (and try and lay on my chair). Last night I put some wire between all the gaps so it will be fun watching 'em try today

Just hope they don't figure out how to climb up the wire and over the bars, lol!

True story, I had an Araucana hen that would climb the fence in our covered pen to push through any gaps she could find at the top... crazy smart hen...

Nothing's impossible, so it seems. It's amazing how clever they can be, when they put their tiny minds to it!

She hasn't gone there yet, just been busy... got a text from her last night, she's 3 weeks behind on the posts here... will be a bit before we see her head clear the surface, she's OCD like me and has to read every post, lol...
