Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I think my OEGBs could have scaly leg mites. Was just researching yesterday! I have the type of permethrin that you can spray on clothing, I was just about to look into using it. I did find some garlic concoction yesterday that I considered trying to make also.
Lovely!!!

It may sound hard but when leg mites hit I usually cull. The girls are hurting and a slow cure is a bad thing. I'd pull those birds into a pen and dose them and just trash their eggs, but those things are pervasive. If they don't heal then I end up with soup birds with residuals that are not acceptable. So I usually either sell for meat or process them for meat.

I've heard gasoline works but dang that sounds painful.

I can trash their eggs, no problem. I just hatched a bunch and won't set any more for a while anyway. But with my coop setup the way it is, I'm really thinking I screwed up now. If I treat one house, I'll probably have to at least treat all 4 in that quad :(

Phil, was it 2015 when you got into birds, too?  I only have ducks & thankfully, have never had anything major come up.  I've had some injuries due to an overzealous/clumsy drake and that's it.

Yeah this is my third year with birds.... I think maybe ducks are easier and less prone to stuff.
Cuz yes I've had a few injuries... Last one was in the fall when my dogs were playing to dang rough.

I will worm my birds this spring I think at sometime.... But I'm really anti chemical.... Anti anything that isn't organic in my garden (and birds).
But I'm not a hippie type person.
Just my body has had so many chemicals of into it I try to avoid more.
If I'd not been exposed to so much benzine in the Air Force I probably wouldn't have gotten leukemia.

I guessed the whole font came up because a friend stopped over today and started telling me I was doing everything wrong..... That is not good to mingle ducks with chickens and I shouldn't have a little plastic pond around the chickens.... Blah blah blah.... And when I told him i did have any problems he looked dumbfounded.

Adonis, my mille boy. He's getting so handsome.
