Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Phil and I aren't so different.

This past Saturday I sat in the crowd as a friends estate was auctioned off.

Tools, cars, motors. Bits and pieces.

Cars we had worked on together, tools I had used in his garage.

I was sad. Left early.

Yep.... I was crushed when mom started dumping dads things.... though she has added a day bed to his Lab... the Lab is still pretty much the same. Even his playboy pinups.... and raunchy drawings. I really wanted his Metal Lathe though.... she sold it for 300 bucks....

Brings a cute story to mind.

Holiday season a few years ago someone gave me a girly calendar.
All jokes aside, that's just not me. Don't know what the guy was thinking.

Anyway, as a joke. I let my daughter give it to her boyfriend. But she had
to make "clothes" for everybody for everybody first. So she did...all the
girls got and outfit.

But you could still lift things and peek...

Hana gave it to her boyfriend.

His dad called right back, wanted to know if we had anymore with clothes.

*That was the same year I gave the boy a phony ID and fake mustache

you know I'm getting too a point I don't know what to do with my stuff. At what age do I get rid of it all. I have a bunch of vehicles.... Engines.... Parts. Enough tools to open a shop. A gun collection.... A coin collection.... And none of my kids are interested in any of it.
So it's not like I'm keeping it for their sake. But I'm very sentimental.... And this is stiff I charish. It's all stuff I've spent my life collecting. It's strange to think this way but all this stuff I love will all just be dollar bills to my kids and I'm asset Rich money poor.

Well...

My Dad died with some stuff that he loved, but worked too hard and saved too little to enjoy it.

My uncle died with nothing he loved, and more money than he could ever have used but would not spend a dime to keep himself healthy.

My other uncle died with a loving family and a legacy of love and laughter. He left enough to keep my aunt living in the same modest way they always lived.

My mom has collections of things she bought because she loved, but now those are tying her down to a house she can't care for and she doesn't want to let go.

I have stuff. My family would love to have scrappers come in and clean it out for me.

Do as you please and don't worry what comes after. If you sell your stuff to fund travel or whatever, it's yours...use it as you see fit. That's the advice I am giving my mom. Spend it while you can enjoy it.

Sorry, Spook. I am headed down to Mom's to sell off a lot of my Dad's tools and equipment. It hurts.

Or it will cost your kids money to get rid of it. (Still buried in my parent's stuff, although it's getting better.)

Keep what you truly love, and get rid of the rest.  Of course, if you love it all, that's OK too.  :)    You don't have to do it all at once.
No they won't have to pay to get rid of anything. I'm not talking about the junk vehicles..... I'm just talking about the good stuff. I've got a fortune in snap on tools alone.
My tool box alone cost me almost as much as the shack I live in. Without tools. Granted there is a lot of other stuff that they have to go through. The house itself will become "camp".

my latest ARtistic adventure.... continues

all 18 gauge wire.... a bit##h to bend so small....

its the second one .... first one is getting stripped and redone....

Deb, I've been enjoying your artistic expressions. I don't wear jewelry and sure don't have the talent to make it, but you have enough talent for both of us and then some.

I bet you could tie some incredible trout flies...

It all makes sense.... I save all this valuable stuff for a rainy day that is never going to come cuz many have come and passed and I still have this stuff.
