See, you're all just reinforcing my decision not to join! I have a personal one that I pretty much never use. I toy with the idea of making a farm page from time to time but then I always end up deciding against it, lol.

Honestly, it's a good way to see what's selling, what's popular, what outrageous prices people think they can get, etc. I just try to stick to a few local swap groups. The "national" breed ones don't really do me any good, unless i was looking for hatching eggs, then maybe...
The raffle group is actually pretty neat.

I'm up to date and hungry . Fried fish baked fish lobster and crab . My daddy said if it eats my bait I eat it and that's pretty much what we did . Even fresh water eels 'Didn't matter if we had to skin it or scale it we ate it . Guess I'll fry up some chicken for dinner . Told Ben I would this morning . Got the car through emissions only had to wait in line for an hour . Got some groceries and only was gone five hours :barnie. Now you guys got me thinking about maybe tomorrow doing some grilled salmon DW loves that stuff . I like beef . But would rather sit down to a big bowl of hocks and beans fried taters and corn bread than the best steak in town . And I sure miss momma's fresh poke salad and eggs .To late for a mess of poke this year but come spring I'll have to cook some up. I sure am hungry :(

Did you & Ben enjoy your McD's last night? What does he like there?

I'm eating cherry tomatoes too, mixed with some cukes and celery, drenched in balsamic vinaigrette dressing. :drool
Mine is 99% hate, 1% tolerate. :D

I know the difference. Just couldn't remember which ones he had. :smack

Great minds think alike. i was snacking on cherry tomatoes dipped in ranch.

Ya'll have a good evening & sleep well. 'Twas a long flockin day. Hope to get some good sleep.

Momma's name wasn't Annie, by any chance?

Love that song! Just about everyone has sung it...I forget who I like best...but Elvis does do a good job.

No one seems to have a stand at they are going by for the 55s so I am jusg going to breed what I like. For now ill breed what I have because I only have 2 cockerels, 1 silver and 1 gold. I like the flecking in the feathers, distinguishes them from plain old white leghorns.

Now, PLEASE post some photos! Since I have leghorns, I am curious. ;)

Haha - I hear ya! We have a local poultry group on FB and someone posted some bare legged BCM pullets for sale. I just wrote "feathered feet?" on a comment and took a barrage of anger. So I posted the SOP link and the administration contacted me and said if I posted any more outside links I would be banned from the group. Not sure what planet I was on at that point. So I politely apologized and removed myself.

 :th

Insane!

I used to breed BCM, and I bred them super light on the feathered legs..I would greatly prefer them to be clean.... I had no trouble telling people that. And I see no problem with it...why couldn't she just say she didn't want to follow the SOP?

In FBs defense (gulp, I can't believe I just said that) I sell a lot more birds that way than any other. But I do get tired of egos. Shoot y'all, we are chicken farmers. I'm sure there's a power trip in there somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.

Yeah...that is the main reason I am on.

The best Leghorn breeder I have ever found can only be reached through Facebook. He has such excellent stock too. :drool

Also, close to 100% of my sales are facebook.

The Alaska Facebook sites are very active.

As to fish....

Fresh lightly cooked Salmon, or fresh raw salmon, or smoked salmon, or older salmon covered in cream sauce. :drool

Halibut is good too, nice that it is so easy to make bone free...but tastes like nothing. .... so great for fried fish or fish tacos...or some dish where it can be mystery chunks that just soak up the sauce.

Comfort food: spoon bread, giblet gravy and giblet cornbread dressing, or tomato soup made from tomatoes right out of the garden.... or chips with Pico from the garden.
