Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

It's hard I know . If you say to much it's picking if you say to little you don't care .It's kinda a lose lose thing . Sounds like you did good . With my daughter I just let her mom handle her . She is just like her anyway . They both scare me. DD leaves me a note to get her up in the morning and then gets mad when I do :thThere are things a girl can only discuss with her mom . like I walk in the room and all goes quiet :lau. So I leave . I'm the dad I locked the keys in the car again dad the car won't start. Dad my tires are thumping . dad my ac is blowing hot air. Dad I need money :th
This pretty much describes my DH and DD to the letter. I call them "ketchup and ice cream" they go together so well...unless the car needs something...

Good night!
A chicken Blessing (with a nod to the Irish)
May your rooster's crow meet you in the morning (maybe with an extra half hour of sleep).
May the wind carry the smell of poo toward the vacant lot in the back (substitute "to the neighbors' house" if they have a dog they can't control of complain about said roosters).
May the algae not grow in your waterers, and flies suddenly lose interest in your flock.
May your hens lay plentiful amounts of beautifully colored eggs and give you happy greeting noises (even without bringing them treats).
May your incubators maintain proper humidity and temperature, and your chicks be fuzzy and soft (and every one in line with the most current SOP for the breed).
And may your flock (and you, and yours) rest well, safely protected from any harm.

Yeah, I always know when the sons have car trouble - it's the only time (other than Father's Day or his birthday) they call and say, "Hi Mom, is Dad there?" Otherwise they'll at least chat with me for a bit first.

Thank you all for the condolences :hugs

I got back a little while ago from installing an autodoor on my AC coop and things did not go well. Not on the bird front, that's fine, but I had an incident with my cousin's boyfriend. Since I don't want to type the whole thing out because it would take far too long, basically he stole two newly hatched chicks from one of my broody hens, took them into the house, put them in pretty much a chinese takeout food holding box with a dish of water that they can easily drown themselves in, scattered crumbles all over the floor of the box, which I suspect are layer crumbles, not chick feed, has no heat source on them, refused to let me take them because "he had been caring for them so they are his now", insisted I was wrong when I told him they wouldn't last the night without a heat source, and then started accusing me of leaving my birds without food and water for days (which I obviously don't or they'd all be, you know, dead), admitted that he's been trying to get into my locked AC run because he's decided the birds in there have no food despite the full thirty pound feeder in their coop, and pretty much just called me a neglectful poultry owner.

Then I got to leave listening to the chicks screaming because they were too cold while they all sat down for dinner and ignored them. They'll probably be dead by morning. He claimed he had a ceramic heat emitter that he was going to put over them, but apparently dinner was important than doing that.

Needless to say, there's going to be trouble for him tomorrow. My father, the landlord, will be going over there to have a word.

I did not need this on top of everything else, I really did not.

:hugs
Have you looked to see if he is selling them on CL or FB? Or do you think he just wants them for himself? PM me his name, I'll do some digging.
I mean looking for sale ads, but the earth type of digging may come later.

Sorry for the birds, but you probably did better by leaving and letting your dad handle it.

Things went ok with my d d so far. She is staying the weekend with me I'm taking her to the chiropractor.
Not sure if she is really taking in everything we are saying to her but she is not arguing or crying so that's good. Told her she can either finish paying for the car or she can spend some time here working it off. Gonna make her do my laundry and clean house a bit in exchange for her chiropractor bill. She needs to get an x Ray she is having pain when she tries to lift her arm.
I really wasn't as angry as I thought I was once I had her in my arms again. . . talking here has really helped me put things in perspective. I can't believe being given a pair of call ducks has had such an impact on my life! Besides the enjoyment I get from them , it brought me here to be encouraged by some great people. For that I am eternally grateful!

i haven't commented much on this issue, but I'm glad you found us too. As has been said many times here, we cut up alot, but we are also one of the most caring, helpful, supportive and insightful bunch of misfits around.
i have similar issues with my step children (somehow my birth child doesn't have many issues - i give his dad the credit, not myself) but the step kids? I could write a book.

:hugs

Wish I was closer. I'd just ask for his address.

:highfive: Meet ya there!

Man, I'll never keep up with you guys. Hope you're all doing well!

So happy today was my Friday, and it's the start of a week off!

no need to keep up. Just glad you stop in when you can. :)

So sorry you're going through all of this...Like others have already said, you did the right thing walking away and letting your dad deal with it. Hope that chicks are OK too!:hugs
