they have learned since growing their winter hair that it they catch the electric just right, it doesn't hurt too bad. They only escape when I come home from work :/


They think they are starving to death.

On a good, and funny, note. I had a telemarketer call while I'm chasing pigs and messing with moving chickens around. Not thinking I answered the phone with a very nasty sounding hello. He proceeded with his spiel (the entire time there are 3 pigs screaming and a bunch of chickens carrying in while I move them around) and when he was done I blurted out, look sir, I didn't hear anything you said cause I'm chasing 3 hogs back into their pasture and trying to butcher a chicken.


He hung up on me

Some advice from my own experience. DO NOT FEED THEM RIGHT AFTER YOU PUT THEM BACK!! That only teaches them that if they get out you'll feed them, positive reinforcement, you kind of have to think of them like dogs. Second thing you can do is get some hog panels set them up put the pigs in and either put a strand near the ground or electrify the whole thing (my personal preference.) leave them in there for a few weeks at least and they'll have relearned respect for that fence.
