Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Hi everyone!

Question for those that know anything about call ducks... how much does the average day old call duckling weigh?

The 6 I hatched were 50-53 g.

Okay, thanks! I asked because I have a tiny duck egg hatching right now. It's not a call egg, it's just small. Still in the shell it weighs 43 grams. Seems kind of weak, so it might not survive. :(

Bummer.

When does it usually become spring at your house?

Wake up pond peeps! It's a beautiful day here.
it is warming up for sure!!
its supposed to be mid 70s today!
Kersplash, can someone help me to my lily pad ? Yesterday I got conned into judging a basset hound field trial. Those buggers can really move - I kept up even outrunning my much younger judging partner, but last night my legs were cramping fiercely. I refuse to age gracefully even though my body and the Princess think that I should. Went to grandson's bb game at 4 :30 - they won 13 to 6. Princess went to the 8:30 game (I went to bed) which they won 10 to 4. They will play as many as 3 games today if they continue winning. One of his team mates got hit in the head with a pitch last night. They immediately rushed him to the hospital which is conveniently just across the road. We'll find out today how he is doing.

thats great!! hope you are feeling all better now

Grandson's first ball game was called after 3 innings with a score of 17 to nothing. They play again at 4:30.

how many more games for them??
Last high school baseball season for our youngest. They have only lost one game and are ranked #1 in the state. We had our NPIP/AI inspection last week. Mrs. Oz had a surprise birthday part yesterday. It was the only weekend all our children could visit. It's been a doozy of a Spring so far! I've missed chatting with you guys!
thats great for your youngest!
hope the testing went well

My babies needed more than luck. One dead chick, five poults including Oregon Gray. And they were there under the heat 24 hours or more :gag

6 chicks in the hatcher, though.
that stinks,

sorry, but congrats on the others
Hi all! I didn't get on yesterday so I hope I didn't miss anything!

The thing at TSC was fun, the other person who was supposed to come and have a booth just never showed up, so it was just me. It was okay though, I brought chicks, ducklings, and juvenile pair of ACs (who got a lot of comments) as well as an incubator to demonstrate incubation.

I got lots of questions, gave out my info to some people and have already gotten emails from people wanting to buy some ducklings or chicks. So I think it was a success.

I did have to get a little rude with a woman though. She saw the ducklings and said she wanted one. I told her she needed two. She said again to me she just wanted one. I told her that she really needed two were she to get any for the animals' well-being. She said "Yeah but I only want one."

So I looked her right in the eye and said, "Then you shouldn't have any." Don't think she liked that. I think it might have embarrassed her in front of the people she was with. Oh well, serves her right.
sounds like it was a great day, and informative for many people
lol
Glad she's back home.... Even my wife was concerned... A sign that she is getting better. But we are under a winter storm warning and supposed to get a heavy snow tonight. So I needed to get her back in the coop
glad you were able to get her back

Busy day for me today, won't be around much.

But I did just notice that yesterday was Siblings Day... and yall kinda feel like siblings once removed, so Happy Siblings Day to you all!

Frankly, I feel closer to the Pond than to one of my siblings.

Once the Princess leaves the Land of Nod, we'll get rolling. Putting flowers on her parents grave, a trip to Delicious Orchards for vegetables and baked goods, and late lunch at Red Lobster. A retired man's day is never easy.

Anyone on the pond have any Ayam Cemani eggs they'd be willing to sell? So far none of my eggs from my AC pen have been fertile, though "Soup" is throwing lovely black fibro Olive Eggers with white wing tips!
@RavynFallen and @Pyxis have them

we all know it will have the best care either way though

I'm innocent.........at least as far as there isn't any evidence to convict me

As long as you don't cross Sour.

Nice try, but nope. It takes a lot more than lack of evidence to be truly innocent.

Sounds like experience talking...

Does diminished responsibility count?

Hopefully

We're all diminished in some form or fashion. Isn't that why we hang here?

I thought it was my charm and dandy personalilty?

I just hatched a tiny, blind chick. I didn't even know it was blind until it was two days old. But it's not competing well with its sighted siblings.
