Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

The broodies are starting to hatch here. I had one hen on a nest that I tried to move into the Eglu last night and she was fighting me, so her and her one hatched chick got moved in. The other eggs that weren't pipped or hatching I was planning to take and finish in the incubator. She also had one egg that was pipped so I slid that under another group of broodies because I could hear a chick peeping under them so they're in the middle of a hatch too. There are three of them on that nest! They're jammed in and it looks ridiculous, but those chicks are going to have three moms, so they'll be well protected.

And just as I was getting ready to gather up the leftover eggs from the first broody's nest, an Ac hen hopped in immediately and bit the heck out of me. Don't know if she was sharing the nest with the other broody or if she decided to take that nest instead of squeezing back in with the other three hens, but it worked for me so I let her have it.

We're a seriously twisted bunch, humor tends to push the bounds of what's 'acceptable', but you'll not find a better group of truly amazing people anywhere... the support found here knows no bounds...

And heaven help anyone that ticks any one of us off!! :lau

Amen! :highfive:

Visions of IceHoles running through my head.....

I know the feeling! I moved Mocha on day 17, when the other 2 in that pen decided they wanted to take over. They aren't getting any eggs for a while... they barely laid a week's worth of eggs since their last broods!

And my white serama decided she wanted another round, and my other splash cochin, so I caved and gave them eggs yesterday. The cochin is kinda an experiment, since I was only getting eggs from one cochin hen (all the others are raising chicks still) so this will tell me if that one hen is carrying mottled. I got almost all mottled chicks last go-round, and didn't know any of my girls were carriers!
The serama is another pecker! But I finally decided she doesn't peck very hard, so I gave her some fairly new pullet eggs, just to see what comes out of them.

Leave it to you to have a serama that "is another pecker!" :lau
