Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

They were probably more settled at her place because it was 'home'. Once moved to your place their wild instincts and desire to escape were triggered. As a teen I bought a pair of wood ducks. I kept them in a fairly large pheasant pen. For the first month or so I rarely saw them. They were constantly hiding. They eventually tamed somewhat. I decided to license them with the state. Turns out the guy I bought them from was not licensed to have them so the state came and seized them. The guy who came to get them was very apologetic, but he was bound by the law. So as you can see my experience with wood ducks wasn't real pleasant either. :hugs

Thanks. :hugs

The ponds got me feeling a bit like the Mad Hatter today...

I cant seem to figure out if I'm laughing or crying.

Sorry, I'll try to stop being a downer. :(

Just heard back from my aunt on the chickens. She doesn't think he's quite ready for the responsibility yet, but maybe next year!

Also, apparently he really likes spending time with me and learning about the chickens, because I actually talk to him like he's a person and, unfortunately, his parents don't do a lot of that :( So she actually suggested his gift be a 'coupon' from me for something where we spend time together, like taking care of my birds with me or going to the movies.

I'm thinking I'll get him something physical too, but also tell him I'll take him to the chicken show I'll be entering in May :)
He'll like that...And by next year he'll have learned a lot from a great teacher! :love
