Well I have just tried to breed my rabbits. It did not go to plan, lol. The female was more interested in eating than interacting with the male, and the male, who is young and has never bred before, had no clue what he was supposed to do with a girl. Then, since my female is still bigger than him and got annoyed with him, she started giving him a hard time and he ran off.

I'll try again in about an hour. Aren't these thing supposed to breed like, well, rabbits?

A co-worker brought in a quilt to show me yesterday. Cathedral pattern. Very pretty, and interesting pattern. I may have to do some digging in my remnant bins. Be sure and show off the purse when its done!

Hubby went out and said the road is a solid sheet of ice. I'm not heading to work for a bit. Maybe they will salt it soon. The sun is shining though, so hopefully that will help.

I was heading to Winchester once, & had to pass through a corner of WV on a winding road running along the river. Came upon a car having trouble, so I got out to help. Water had been coming out of the rocks & running across the road, making it so slick that I literally had to get on all 4's and crawl just to get across the road; couldn't even stand in one spot w/o sliding.

Quilting has always fascinated me - the farthest I've been in that area is making simple square pattern quilts for my kids and hand stitching them. I got a new sewing machine for my birthday, which has reinvigorated my interest...Maybe an embroidery machine is in my future? (Or maybe not - those things are expensive...although, with this lucrative chicken business, ya never know!! )

I love quilting. Wish i had time to devote to it. I got my mothers Bernina quilting machine when she passed away. it's a Cadillac, I tell ya. I've done cross stitch too, but never got into embroidery too much. Although I dabbled at embroidery on egg shells last year.

DS & DIL have 3 embroidery machines...that I know of...trying to make a business of doing custom orders. DW liked one of them, so they gave her one last year. And you're right; they're very expensive.

Ooohh, very cool machine! Most of my material, and sewing related accessories have come from my relatives who have passed away. I think I'm the only neice, granddaughter, cousin, etc. who sews - so it's always, "Give it to Kathy, she sews." No complaints here! !

I used to teach quilting classes at Joann Fabrics. I love quilting!

I just don't think people understand the ramifications of the physical/mental toll it takes. It's so addictive because it (in non-scientific terms) takes euphoria to a completely different level as it destroys brain and body tissue- better than sex, better than any crazy normal human joy. So, regular human pleasures are almost bland to a meth user. When they recover, they can't, and won't, ever feel joy over positive life events. Can you imagine life like that?

Unfortunately I can imagine a life like that.
Probably why chronically depressed people are drawn to such a substance.
Knowing the ramifications are probably why most highly intelligent people avoid such substances and are drawn to alcohol or other more benign (although not completely) substances.

Ours too. Lived here in Santee for fifty years started out about four dairys one highschool one stop light and hitch posts at some of the bars and Seven eleven. Crime spree would be someone getting drunk and waiving a gun about. Hells angles too but they keep their area free of crime for the most part.

I know some California Natives that are third Generation... Went to highschool with a gal her children were all from different fathers... and when I met them they were dropping out of highschool to have babies themselves...


Been around that so many years now... Tweekers and before that Coke was the big drug. Hung around multi millionairs that were major Coke users... One guy had a one bedroom house that had a five thousand dollar a month mortgage... Equivalent of hundred thousand now. Their business... Realestate.

Here in my neck of the woods we have the drugs that come across the border. Mostly delivered by trucks or tunnels... Despite the controversy over the wall we have had success with ours. it runs from The ocean to just past my home town of Jacumba.
Drugs still come across... What worries me is The Mexican Drug cartels every so often their crap spills over to the US... Atrocities is the best word for it.

I went through a program once for unemployed. It qualified for one weeks worth of Job search... Met a fellow who was an out of work CFO for a major corporation. He had twelve kids. He showed me how to get food at the food bank.

San Diego on up to Los Angeles have been major Aerospace towns... Good pay very interesting work. Buck Knives was developed here and had a major factory here... Then California in its infinite wisdom started Taxing the crap out of em... Wanting that piece of the pie. I was part of all of that... Working in Aerospace was one of my dreams... I worked as a draftsman on the 777, The C-17, The F-18, The Atlas Centaur Commercial Retrofit, For companies like Teledyne Ryan, Convair Space, Contracting companies for Mc Donald Douglas, Boeing, and Huges. Dad even worked on tooling for the space station. As well as all those places.

We were a boom town... then it all moved out of state because of incentives from wiser people. And of course lots of those jobs simply dissolved or got moved out of the country.

Wages are still good Opportunities are still there but the fields have changed. Biomed is a biggie. Company that developed human insulin produced from bacteria is located right here. They are on to so many things now. Telecommunications, Soft ware developers....

You have to have an Engineering degree now to get a job as a draftsman for Godsake.. Starting wages 20 an hour. When I hit that last revolving door in a biomed company I was making 35... because I didnt have a degree. Others were making a lot more than that.

Now I make Nothing. Living a stressful life but I am infinitely happier.

Nice quote Deb...... Couldn't live there.
Would love to visit but I couldn't even think to afford such a place.
Most I ever made was $25 an hour.
However I make double house payments here and it's less than $400 a month.
I know I know.....I live in a shack.
But it's a constantly evolving shack.
That's now a few months away from being paid off at least 10 years early. And because I'm a disabled Vet I don't pay property taxes.
The cost of living here must be cheap as I know lots of people who not only survive but thrive on minimum wage.
You can still find a nice starter home here for under $50 K.......
