Most interesting part about heating pads. I realize many on BYC love the MHP, but I've never been a fan. Now I'm sure I'm not a fan.

From that article:

Heating pads: It is almost impossible to find a heating pad or electric blanket that does not use PTFE-coated wires in its construction. Since these wires are specifically meant to be heated, they are in danger of outgassing -- especially if the wires are old or cracked. If you need to provide heat for your bird, use a ceramic bulb or other infrared source that does not rely on heated wires.

I had a heated blanket once. I sure liked it But I worried constantly it would catch fire. I'm a worry wart. I give it to a friend to use when her heat went out and never got it back. Never bought another one. . not worth the stress for me lol!

I absolutely love my heated mattress pad. But the personal power surges usually make me turn it off in the middle of the night.
