Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well thats not good! :barnie
I was curious about him cos of what peeps have stated.

Oh yeah, he's got Youtube videos telling people they should only keep one goose because then it will 'guard' their chickens.

I mean, number one, a goose never 'guards' other birds, no matter how many of them there are. They will alert at the sight of danger, but none of them are going to be attacking a coyote if it tries to eat the chickens. They're going to run with the rest of the birds.

And number two, a goose that has no other geese is lonely and miserable; why would you do that to an animal for your own personal gain? I mean, assuming the first point was even true, you'd be condemning that poor goose to a lonely and barren existence for your own benefit, and that's just awful. And the first point ISN'T even true, so now you're just doing it for no reason.

Cap, I'm sweating bricks over this! Technically I'm only about 120miles south of LA (that's 3+ hours by car, so it feels farther than it really is.) SBD is only about an hour NE of here. Our little flock is more like pet dogs than chickens. I cant even fathom somebody coming in here & telling me they're taking/killing my pets for preventative reasons. If God forbid that happens, it will be the end of me.
They would be prying my gun out of my cold , dead hands before they got mine! Sending good vibes your way.

I went out and watered all the critters, it's another steamy hot day. Taking a break in the ac before i go out to finish watering plants.

It's really hard to get a good turkey picture, they seem to never be still!

Sadly Perchies gas sounds about right. Its been $3.69 for regular at the cheap place down the street for a while. You can usually get it a little cheaper if you want to wait in line at Costco for 20mins. deb is about an hour SE of here. I don't know if that makes hers cheaper or more expensive than mine.

Yeah, Vyxin only gurads me... but if it were a matter of me or him, he'd run.:lau
I can see them alerting and maybe guarding their own. But even then only to an extent. And Ive seen how lonely Vyx is, i certainly wouldnt want him ti be that way permanently. :(

Thanks! I really like the color! The jar was a Christmas gift from a friend & the chicken was a gift I bought for myself. I normally don't splurge like that, but I found it standing all alone & 50% off, so I couldn't pass it up.
Good for you! Its really a pretty piece!:love

Our feed store had a pair of geese that lived at the store forever. When one of them died suddenly, you never saw such mourning. :hit I swear if that guy could've eaten a bullet he would have. It went on for months & months. They eventually tried to introduce another goose, but it never really took. We felt terrible for him.
