DW's big on Cherry tomatoes; likes to munch on them at work. We used to plant them, 'til we discovered that we were getting as many volunteers sprouting out of the compost pile as we were planting. A buddy of mine was doing the same with full-size tomatoes.
May just be one hen out of the lot. Just another reason that I hate 'co nesting' hens. It's difficult to identify the trouble maker.
Good morning Pond Scum. Well, I guess it's more Pond Skippers. Not much scum on the Pond lately. Not sure that's a good thing.![]()

congrats on the five. Sorry about the ones that didn't hatch. Before I left the house, she got off the nest for a couple minutes. 5 beautiful little ducklings scurried out!! One egg in the middle of the nest, wrapped in another empty shell, was partially zipped. I grabbed it, but it was dead. Looked like she tried to peck it open, but the duckling had its head between its legs, and I'm sure the extra empty shell was hindering momma from breaking it free. So we've lost one. 5 alive, 1 dead, 1 egg was still in the middle of the nest, 1 egg unaccounted for! I think it was under some leaves, so I don't know its fate.
Will have plenty of pics later this evening.

She went back to the other egg that is still there, so hopefully a 6th will hatch. I tried looking for last egg, but its hard to see where she is, so I suspect its under the stuff somewhere and still viable too.
Oh I'm sure.....I like to throw minnows on my duck pool.... They go nutzzzzz!!!!Lol. I normally have tons of frogs in my little fountain pond. . but not this year. I think the Cayuga s have eat all the tadpoles.
