I'm gonna try to get a little book, coffee, & nap time in today.

I'm still keeping my eyes open for a "duck in need" but haven't seen any. That's good for the ducks, but its not helping Mako any. She's barricaded herself in a feathered fortress ever since she laid eyes on Baby Iris (8wks ago) Summer is coming & I have to do something to get her out of the coop before we have a roasted duck out there.

Speaking of Baby Iris, her crow (I know, I'm still in pronoun denial) sounds like one of those old toys that you turn the can over & it moo's, meows, or bleats... Iris sounds like all of those at the same time "Meeaaaahhhhh" I cant call her/him Baby anymore either. At 8.5wks he almost as big as the CL's.

They turn white, like mine? I don't think you can see it, but that one has a spot on top of the head that's just a shade or two darker than the yellow.

mine that hatch yellow with black spots grow into white feathers with black spots.

It is because white is a "leaky" dominant. The color it is crossed with "bleeds" through.

I like the way it looks.

It's been a good week so far. I've got one more day of choir camp, their concert tomorrow night, then a family reunion in Sacramento before my summer can officially begin.
Whew. I'm not used to the constant "go, go, go" of former years.

So I let Phoebe and her baby out for a bit. The others are getting a little more accepting, but still under supervision. She did call Malibu from her nest and I was able to grab the last egg. Its pipped, and peeping! The membrane is a bit brown, so hopefully she can still break it out. I'm not interfering, but I hope it hatches.
All very light babies, as suspected since Malibu is almost white. But one looks maybe blue pied, which surprises me. Most of them look like they are wearing the little round eye glasses.

All of my ducks just came through the front door (its open cos its hot in here lol) and waddled past me quaking. Lined up at the dog food dish, each took a piece and waddled right back outside...
