Yea, stray white feathers are pretty common I hear. They will molt out as they get adult feathers. I will look in the morning, but I think mine are all gone now, at 16 weeks.

Okay; I'd just never seen it before this one. I've had several black first generation BCM crosses, & none of them ever showed it. Same as yellow hatchlings turning white, maybe.

So sorry you lost your special Bun! I am starting to cuddle my little mini rex babies now, their eyes are open. I must make time to do it because they make much better pets that way.
I am inundated with baby quail. Must stop hatching them! Luckily there is a swap this weekend, maybe i can sell some.

I'm OK with mine taking out potential predators. I did feel bad about the cat, but... let's just say it was over with quickly. Ruger has killed two raccoons for sure in the past couple of weeks, and we heard him fighting with another one the other night but haven't found a carcass yet, so that one may have gotten away. Now, if he could only find and get that mink that took a third of my flock a couple of weeks ago...

I'll leave the stray cats alone, unless they start eyeballing the chickens. We always had a cat or two around, mostly in the barn, but not since the chickens moved in, although I had one that pretty much grew up in the doorway of the old walk-in chicken house; never bothered any of them, though. The door faced the East, & she liked to lay there & sun herself.

I Will definitely not be catering to the bf. But I don't dislike him. . . yet.
He's a bit cocky in my opinion So far, but nothing too disrespectful. Not my cup of tea but my dd has a very different taste in most all things than I do so I'm not surprised. He DID however drop the f bomb in front of my dad. . we had a talk about that already.

I'm not above using the f word but my dad doesn't go for that kind of language and I watch my mouth out of respect in his presence and he had better grow a filter if he wants to get along here.

And can someone please tell me how anyone who is not Luke Bryan thinks they look good in skinny jeans? Patterned ones to top it off?

I think our local feral cat had kittens. I wondered whether putting some feed out in the woods would help, but I think I better just leave them alone. I spotted one of them on the other side of hubbys garage the other day. Usually they stay out around the perimeter, so this one was closer than they normally get.

Do you have one of those organizations around that trap feral cats, spay/nueter them, them bring 'em back? Cats are pretty handy for keeping the mice/rats/snakes in check, as long as they don't develop a taste for chicken. They usually won't take on a grown bird, though, except perhaps bantams.

I have no idea if we have those places. I did lose one duckling within the first few days after Malibu hatched hers, and she was taking them to the corner of the yard where it would be easiest for the cat to snatch one. I suspected that’s what happened. But can’t confirm it and haven’t lost any more since.

Hmmm...don't know what to tell you. Probably too smart for a live trap, although I have caught one. Even caught a curious chicken once, but she wasn't hurt. Since then, I make sure the trap isn't set when they're out.

I need to make a TSC run; need a couple more cattle panels. I'm redoing the tractor...don't like the way it turned out the first time & couldn't stand looking at it any longer. Don't know how portable it'll be when I'm done, but I can live with it if it isn't; better than the eyesore it was.

I’ve got a big ranger EE cross rooster so guess who ended up with the chicken house hens? They’re not too happy about it But I’m going to get some big green egg laying meat birds!

Ha! I actually sold guineas to one!
