Sounds like barter timeHa! I actually sold guineas to one!
I wouldn't mind having them around if they didn't annoy the birds and spray and poop in my out building. When I had my younger Cayugas in the rabbit pen I caught that big Tom sitting on top of it one morning swatting its claws at the ducks. Luckily I had a tarp over the back side of I so they were able to dodge it, but they wouldn't go back in there after that.Do you have one of those organizations around that trap feral cats, spay/nueter them, them bring 'em back? Cats are pretty handy for keeping the mice/rats/snakes in check, as long as they don't develop a taste for chicken. They usually won't take on a grown bird, though, except perhaps bantams.
I understand completely! So my dd is here for a visit with her significant other.
I have Mixed feelings it's kind of like this

Just tell em whats expected, its all you can do. And hope they'll comply.Really really glad to see her. The bf. . .eh. Could've lived without it but he is obviously here to stay so I gotta get used to it.
Her dad is truck driver so he picked them up and drove them all over the country for 5 days before they got here. They were both pretty jet lagged smelly and hungry when they finally made it to a place close enough we could go pick them up.
Of course they don't have a penny to split betweenst them so we will be providing all their needs for however long they stay.
I don't mind taking care of my own kid but I hope the extra one isn't high maintenance.
And as I am typing this they are already raiding the fridge.
I've feed them twice already and we didn't pick them up till almost noon.![]()
Nicely done!So sorry you lost your special Bun! I am starting to cuddle my little mini rex babies now, their eyes are open. I must make time to do it because they make much better pets that way.
I am inundated with baby quail. Must stop hatching them! Luckily there is a swap this weekend, maybe i can sell some.
Hubby and i have been working on building a turkey coop and run. Nearly done, just the roof of the run, hardware and security measures left to be done. View attachment 1462333 View attachment 1462334
My dogs will go after anything thats not been introduced and supposed to be here. Theyve killed a couple of opossum and small things like mice, rats and the occasional squirrel.. mostly they just run critters off tho.Sleep well. Get better.
Even if he is, you don't have to maintain him... "Here's what we're eating/doing/working on today." Period. (Unless, of course, you get to like him - then you can be nicer!)
Not my dog. He killed a stray tom here last year. He'll kill any small animal he gets ahold of except our house cat. They're buddies. Oh, wait - the house cat isn't a small animal - he weighs about 22 lbs.
Moms and chicks.
The one with the 2 chicks got them out of the nest box the first day. There where still eggs in there but another hen decided to take over and now 2 of "her" chicks have hatched and another has 2 under her in another box. I'll get pics when they bring them out.
The white one is getting its feathers and i see black coming in..

I'm guessing they're all best buddies and go out for coffee by now!You on a first name basis with the guys in the lumber department @ Lowe's and/or Home Depot?
I wouldn't mind having a few outdoor cats (although DH doesn't like them - in the winter they use the gravel floor of the machine shed as a litter box). Ruger took care of that cat on his own - I just happened to be outside or I never would have known it had happened. I saw a grey streak that ran into the cattails behind the barn, with Ruger hot on it's trail. A second later he was shaking and flinging this thing, and 10 seconds after that he came out of the cattails, all proud of himself. I thought it was a woodchuck until I looked...I'll leave the stray cats alone, unless they start eyeballing the chickens. We always had a cat or two around, mostly in the barn, but not since the chickens moved in, although I had one that pretty much grew up in the doorway of the old walk-in chicken house; never bothered any of them, though. The door faced the East, & she liked to lay there & sun herself.
Ruger is better with the chickens. I don't trust him 100%, but he's doing better.I understand completely!
No words of wisdom tho, got have the wisdom inorder to give it..
But you'll figure it out as you go and adjustment will hapen on one side or the other and if not.. boot em out..
Just tell em whats expected, its all you can do. And hope they'll comply.
