Anyone know the secret to starting a diesel tractor in below freezing temps?

Only way we could get ours to start was a block heater and the occasional need for the barn heater .

Same here.

Warm it up..... Got a salamander heater.
Or some other type ......cover the tractor with a tarp.... Warm it up.
I assume it started okay before.
Is the diesel fuel in it winter or summer fuel?

Look at you, all knowledgeable. :D. Nice!

TWO weeks???

:hit

Don't we have a month?????
When they got married, each couple declared that they would like to establish their own Christmas traditions. Can't argue witht that. The weekend chosen is the only one that everyone could get together. So, Dec. 8 is our Christmas. At least they all want to get together - that's something.

I think that’s an excellent idea.

I've got a hungry mama coyote in the field across the street. We've seen her out in the day a couple times, but today she was standing at the field fence staring across my little road through my fence at my chickens. The old hens were hiding, but Iris & some of the younger ones were staring back at her like idiots. I shooed her off, but she just wandered around & around looking for food. She must be starving to have been so blatantly out in the open for so long. I feel badly for her. Hopefully the pack will be back soon & pick her up.

Omg. That’s not good. :(

:frow Been off for a bit, but back now...

Tom and Tim got back with Patty (Tom's mom), her stuff, and the rest of our stuff last Sunday. We were all going to go to our church's Thanksgiving dinner that day, but I ended up staying home 'cause I'd seriously underestimated the amount of time it would take to prep and prime the wood paneling in our bedroom (all those :duc grooves), so I'd gone to bed about 6 am and got up again at 9:30... I'd signed up to take food, as had Faith, so we delivered, but I came back home to finish painting. Tom and I did get to sleep in our room that night, though! I'd been sleeping in the living room for a few nights. For our own Thanksgiving, I'd declared that I didn't want to deal with the full feast (mainly due to the pre-prep for stuffing and all the last minute potato mashing, gravy mixing, and carving (why, no, I don't let people help--it's my kitchen:gig)), so it was agreed that whatever was fine. So I got ham and all our regular fixings--I have a great crockpot au gratin potato recipe, and an equally great crockpot brussels sprout recipe (another reason not to do turkey and all the fixings--I'm short a crockpot now). Then Tom tells me we've been invited to another church's Thanksgiving, on the day. No need for :barnie, though--Tom's birthday was the day before Thanksgiving this year, so we had our leftover-providing feast on Wednesday, then turkey on Thursday. And it's just as well--Wednesday evening, the germ that kept Grace out of school on Tuesday (she actually had a fever) snuck around all the Airborne Id been drinking and bit hard. Managed to drive to and from the church (needed 2 vehicles--everything we have that isn't a major climb to get into is a 5-seater, and we're now 6) but energy ran out very shortly after. And poor Faith ended up losing all of her turkey and trimmings just as we pulled into the driveway. She did manage to get none inside the car, though. So we've been a pretty pathetic group this weekend--the only one not sick is Patty.

Did some online shopping Thursday night and Friday, but no Christmas gifts (well, except for the gift from Tim to Faith, but that's on his card)--thermal underwear for the girls, as the adults are all covered, winter coats for Faith and I, as the first coat we got at Goodwill is shedding plastic all over (it's good enough to wear around the property, but not good enough to donate) and the second is just a bit garish (good enough shape to donate, though), laptop for Tom, as he's giving his Chromebook to Patty, a TV and microwave for Patty's new apartment (next Friday:celebrate) that she doesn't know about, a desktop computer and monitor for Faith, that she's paying half for now and paying the rest back to us as she earns money, and so forth. Last night, I slept 16 hours, so I'm feeling better, though I still have no energy.
